I understand completely what you're saying and fully understand the OP's concerns but ...................when you say 'what business do they have' etc. ...........whatever happened to neighbourliness? I suppose it all depends on where you live etc.

I fully understand why a woman in on her own is frightened but ............ at the same time - it's a sad state of affairs when we mistrust and therefore wont help anyone isn't it?

I'm in London....I'd not expect a stranger to knock on my door at this time....it wouldnt get opened anyway. Maybe they are tourists and not used to our 'friendly' ways.

It IS sad Soozy woo BUT there ARE all sorts of nutcases in the world and unfortunately there are people who will prey on the kind hearted by pretending to be vulnerable and luring them into a situation.

It is sad, but there's a time and a place, and 1.30am with a couple of kids in the house isn't the time to be vulnerable.

Yep....most of them grunt if you're lucky, unless you've known them for years....can't blame them. they're probably sick of serving people all day who dont say please, thank you or kiss my arse. Same on buses, tubes, trains....but I love every inch of old London Tahn.

Is OP back yet???

Don't you dare feel guilty. Yes they may have needed help. But staring through someones window and targeting a woman on her own for help at 1am is bang out of order. They're lucky they managed to get away in one piece.

You did the right thing. The police will understand your concerns. I'm glad they've gone. It did sound like a pretty dodgy scenario. It's always better to be safe than sorry hun. Hug

This sounds dodgy. Three of them in the car? Then they have more than enough people to push it themselves.

Well I'm glad you're safe, I was getting worried there.

The police ?, although it seems they where genuine, they sort of went about it the wrong way (looking through the window) and I think with kids in the house you were right to be concerned.

They should fully understand.... Better to be safe than sorry... Especially at this time of night.... HugThere is a lesson to be learned here--- Do not open the door to anyone you don't know till you find out who they are and what they want....
R
You did the right thing, still very dodgy that 2 blokes should ask a woman to help push their car. I take it they didnt knock on anyone elses door. Also the whole peering through the window and standing in the garden thing, not right. I am sure the Police will say the same.

Edit 3 in the car bliddy heck hope the police come before they go.

You can call emergency breakdown even without membership OK they charge more but thats the way it goes.
