LOL  I get a bit possesive about MY tree as well - when my Lad was smaller I gave in and had 2 one for him and one for me - his was to go in the sun lounge and was smaller - one day came home from shopping and he had persuaded Dad to swop them  not a mean feat struggling to move a 7' floor to ceiling tree and even meaner having to move them back to please me as the small one looked stupid in situ

kids - dont you love them

for the last few years i have decorated the tree in red and gold (i decorate - it's MY tree) any bauble losing its colour/thread/dented gets put on the back of the tree out of sight but still useful to balance the tree so it doesn't fall over (like it did one year!)

and no one touches the chocolate or candycanes until at least the 24th

What do you put on it to make it fall over???

Jen-Star

large baubles at the bottom, medium in the middle and small at the top

fairy on top

tinsel (delicately wrapped around the branches)

crackers

chocolates

candycanes

red beaded "chain" (quite heavy)

and as a finishing touch i put shiny red tinsel strands all over (can't explain  - but does look good

fore gone the lights this year - no room on the tree

That sounds really lovely Machel . Maybe we should have a Christmas Tree thread where we can post pics of our trees?

i love decorating the house for christmas, the tree goes up early because it takes so long to decorate!  5 santas sit in the window (1 comes out of a chimney singing, 1 jiggles his belly while singing, 1 is an advent calender, 1 shouts ho ho ho when you walk past - frightens the bejesus out of the cat   and another holds a candle)  "danglies" and chains festoon the ceiling, tinsel around the mirror/pictures and candles on nest of tables
