You know what prompted me to do this poll was a Facebook group that was called...

'Homework should never of been invented' Roll Eyes

Now, had that person spent more time studying and perhaps doing homework or any work for that matter then maybe they'd have got their grammar correct.

It made me giggle and I had to stop myself from joining the group to point this grammatical error out but I refrained Big Grin

Glad no one has put 'of' yet Nod

Grammar is very important, well I think so. Not enough importance is attached to it nowadays Frowner

You forgot to put a full stop after your sentence and before your smiley. Glance

I'm quite laissez faire about sheer laziness on the forum as I'm bone idle myself most of the time. But only if someone has demonstrated at least once that they know how to 'do it' but are, as I said, just being slovenly. If you can't let your grammatical hair down on a BB forum where can you huh.

Using 'of' as a verb, 'their' instead of 'there' etc. that is a whole 'nother kettle of fish.

often can't be arsed to press shift Ninja

Sometimes I think I have pressed shift and haven't done it properly so the capital isn't there and when you're on a fast reply thread like BGT I just can't be arsed to go and change it.

Non capitals don't half but me as much as grammar though Nod

When people are speaking and sound like they are saying 'should of' they are actually saying 'should've' which is correct, unfortunately some people don't realise this and write 'of' when they mean 'have'.

HTH.

I've even noticed TV Presenters saying 'of' instead of 'have'!! You'd think they'd know better and have a more decent grasp of the English language really.

They are bein 'down wiv da kids' probably Roll Eyes The language is being butchered, i know it has to develop but the purpose of a shared language is so that we understand each other & I just think, with 'txt spk' etc we are becoming more and more divided by a shared language.

forums are the only place i don't use capital letters. never have, no idea why Confused i think it stems from having to post at top speed on C4 to get my point across before the thread dropped off the page Laugh i use capitals on facebook, in emails etc.

however, i would like to point out that, despite a lack of capitals, my punctuation, grammar and post content are exemplary. Big Grin Razzer
