Thirded, I was disgusted with that. Not only is she stabbing the leader in the back she is bragging about her too. Can't stand this woman, don't want her to have anything to do with my fair city, bent bitch.

Gordon Brown is a dogmatic fool.
he determinedly FAILED to give us a manifesto promise of a referendum on Europe and he is STILL refusing to go to the country in a General Election, because he "loves" being PM.
We won't have a GE until we absolutely have to (by next June) because of his stupiodly stubborn attitude.
He will lose, of course whenever the GE is and he knows it, a big reason why he's clinging on.
You see this is the whole point.
People keep bringing up the red herring of Europe.
Europe doesn't matter.
If people were bothered then I wouldn't have had to wake up the polling officers yesterday so I could vote.
The simple fact is that he continued with the Thatcherite experiment and it exploded in his face just like Karlo said it would.
As the noted philosopher/womanising hero Bill Clinton said, "It's the economy stupid!"
I think Europe has to matter when its costing the people of this country ÂĢ40 million pounds per day
Well as I have written before, I had to shake the polling officers. I thought that they had died.
My polling station was quite busy, had to queue to read the candidates poster, queue for slip, queue for booth, loads coming and going.
One question, why did some places get a local election and others did not?

Too true!! And that amount is set to increase this year.....and the next....and the next.
Time to ask ourselves if that huge cost is
worth it.

Can you imagine wot it is like to get up at say 6.00am and have to put on a clean shirt and tie and go out and be PRIME MINISTER
No chants of 'OH I CAN'T BE ASPIDISTAED - I WILL CALL IN A SICKY'
No matter wot your politics - he's only human after all
That's nothing. My hubby gets up at 2am to go and do his job and I used to get up at 5am to do mine!
I would call 6am a luxurious lie-in.

Yes very true and what is more worrying is that Gordon Brown is very aware that the Conservatives will be taking over and he has loaded the money rolling out to Europe to increase sharply AFTER the next General Election.

That's how the system works. When we get ours, you won't get yours, as it were.

In London village we had locals a year ago, so none this time around

That's why my polling station was so quiet. People in my area don't feel that Europe is important enough to make that special journey.

I like Gordon Brown. It would be shameful if there was now a General Election - which I believe will be called for very soon - and the Tories got in by default. Looking at the lists of 'flippers' and pee-takers using taxpayers' money to float their duck-boats/houses/moats, it has to be said that the worst offenders are the Conservaties. Sometimes, it is better the devil you know. The country needs to be aware that you can change one government for another but there is no guarantee that the new one will be any better. It could be worse.
I want Gordon Brown to remain as Prime Minister and I hope he survives this present crisis. The son of the manse has integrity, prudence and he is a nice kind family man who has been unlucky to have been Prime Minister when the whole world, and not just Britain, is in financial meltdown. He is not to blame.

Local elections are held approx. every 4 years.. like general elections. Councillors are elected for that term. In some areas they are not elected at the same time as others... hence some going to the polls on the 4th and others not.

If it were only so easy. Try to imagine the cabinet as a bunch of Blarites and Broonites, who all hate each other, and are held together be laggy bands and chewie.
One blow (the expenses row) and the group explodes in a welter of never forgotten rivalries and hatred.

Exactly - he knew the writing was on the wall so jumped before he was pushed.
He was happy to hand the reins to Gordy.

It is not true that the Conservatives are the worst offenders. There have been just as many, if not more, Labour MP's caught with their fingers in the cookie jar.

I think that is a disgrace that his colleagues have been stabbing in him the back like this. They could have waited for the resuffle and made their way out without this drama. Just plain nasty.
As I said yesterday the people of Salford don't want Backstabbing Blears back, she can ride of into the sunset on the bike that we no doubt paid for.

Tis what makes this whole farce so compelling, irrespective of Gordo's undoubted qualities
It's also a good, cleansing process of democratic renewal: a country that doesn't rend its leaders to shreds once in a while ends up like Zimbabwe

It's not a party political thing is it?
They have all used the accepted system to their advantage.
Anyone on here who ever worked in "Local Government and Corruption" will know exactly how this situation arose.

They have all been 'at it' but it appears, from the lists I read, that the biggest offenders have been the Tories. They have been doing it in style as befits their status (moats, manure, duck houses, et al).
The reason I want GB to stay is that he has not been taking the pee out of us taxpayers and has claimed for very little in the scheme of things which makes me think that an honest Prime Minister (albeit that some of his colleagues are not so squeaky clean) is much better than an unknown quantity who may or may not have been so transparent. Honesty and integrity are still good currency whatever your politics.
HAHA I love the way in which the future of this country and British politics in general has been reduced to the X factor,
"Gordon Brown...get im out he is ugleh and fat and has a funneh mouth, and that David wotsis face is like lush init? so lets us all vote for thems lots cause they is like all smarterer than the brown and his lot of mingers"
well thats how it seems here anyway, all these "Tory supporters" who want Labour gone and the eaton maffia instaled in their place and everyfink will allraight then in it?
ask them what would be different.....and all ya get is look at the mess that Brown has got us in,....so...WHAT WOULD THE TORIES DO ???

Winston Churchill was the perfect choice for Prime Minister during that period but look how the country treated him afterwards! Shameful IMO.
He spurred the nation and we kicked those thugs out of Europe. If it weren't for his leadership, I dread to think what this country would be like now.
I will always admire his tenacity (and bulldog spirit).
I hope our DD Veterans have a good day tomorrow. Bless 'em all.

Been trying for ages OHG.
As yet Cameron has not defined change.
But what can he do? New Labour nicked their ground and carried on with their policies. He can hardly go left of Broon. Can He?

he Was a great war leader and that cant be denied, but he also opposed the setting up of the NHS and the welfare state, and after years of fighting and struggle the working people of Britian kinda felt they had earned these things
