Thank you squiggle ; I appreciate that very much, and I think dance settee's attack on me IS uncalled for and rude and unneccesary, but I shall ignore their posts now. They have an agenda and are trying to stir up trouble, but I am not biting. Thanks again hun Valentine

This country has never been in such severe financial strife, with people losing their homes and jobs and livelihoods, left right and centre, and he comes out with a doozy like this! How ignorant and naive is he, to come out with something like this?!

Shut the heck up Siavash, stick to wearing ridiculous clothes and silly make up, and trying to create an image that no-one else in the world would want to copy.

And this using the f-word every seventh word or so, for no particular reason, as part of a normal conversation, is totally narking me off now. Can you imagine the furore if one of the girls did this?!

Can't help thinking that Siavash is trying to be something he isn't. I am under the impression that the Siavash we are seeing, is not the real person, as he seems very fake to me. To be honest, he sounds and looks plain silly to me.

If he is up next, I will be voting for him. Unless he is up against Sree, then I will vote for him, but I would be quite happy to see Siavash go. He is pointless and boring and brings nothing to the house, and on top of that, he talks crap too. Nod

whatever he's said doesn't matter if you don't like the fella Smiler i like colourful people, l like his dress sense and his sense of comedy. he is vain, as are others in the house, a bb requirement i think. his culture a male dom one, maybe the reason for his love of himself. but at least he says things other than the usual and hasn't done the ultimate sin of a-licking and giving his power away. there isn't much else this pitiful bb offers, except sav marcus and freddies chats.

(Reading this back I am editing so as to make clear that this refers to Government aid not what we give as a couple, referring to whether the country can still afford to give as much as we always have done)
Good post squiggle Smiler

it's for the best...i've said my piece and stand by it....really, if you'd spent any time in a poverty struck African village, you wouldn't have the views you do

I may be ranting, but i'm not ranting in ignorance....and that's where we differ.

Each to their own I guess bozz. I just don't really like him much and find him boring and his suggestion we SHOULD give money to Africa, made me pretty angry. I bet he lost a few followers then. Especially the people who are on their knees financially in this country and about to lose everything.

One thing I would just add. I can appreciate that you have seen the poverty in Africa for yourself. But there has been terrible behaviour by African despots who have taken aid for themselves and not passed any on to the people. It is not always easy to get the aid to the people who need it.

Thanks a-team. A good constructive response - I guess it just annoyed me, because when this country is in such severe trouble, I don't care to hear that kind of remark from someone in the BB house, who IMO doesn't know what the heck he is talking about. Of course, others are entitled to different views; I just think it's possible to disagree without attacking people personally, like someone did to me earlier. You have proven that with your post. Thank you.

Like I said earlier squiggle, I think Siavash is going on about things he knows very little about, and I am thinking that he is not the only one.

No problem Smiler

I just thought he was naive on the subject and had most likely read a idealistic article on it and took that at face value, Not realising it is a lot more complicated than that.

I would not hold it against him.

Its good to hear conversations other than Alcohol, Sex, clubbing etc etc every day which I find tedious and boring.

Hi LL yes I agree, how sad that they've stuck such a bunch of wannabees in this year. Oh for some more like Freddie, well not necessarily all like him of course, but more interesting, more individualistic, Freddie would have lapped it up and we could have got something really interesting to watch.

It's an issue that has been debated widely and along the lines that Si and Marcus held. It's hugely complex and difficult to find the most effective way to lift post colonial countries out of the mire of debt and corruption which they're in but kudos to both of them for being aware that there is a world beyond the walls of the BB house.
I await with interest the debate between Kris and Dogface on the merits or otherwise of authoritarian capitalism on the Chinese model as a mechanism for alleviating poverty.

Hiya wavey

I agree with you there. Mind you without LF we probably wouldn't see many of those sort of discussions as they would be edited out. Far more interesting to watch them all parading around in skimpy bikins, or having food fights or slagging Freddy off Roll Eyes

I suppose that would depend on the size of the Chinese model's boobs Glance

I agreed with both him and Marcus, if that's possible Crazy

I think as human beings, we have a moral responsibility to help those less fortunate than ourselves. We're lucky to have been born in a country where the water doesn't kill us, and where healthcare and education are free and available to all.

But Marcus was also right about several African nations being ruled by corrupt despots, who line their own pockets while their people starve.

I agree with this Toid and it's shown graphically in Zimbabwe. They had the chance there to show the world that an African country could stand on it's own two feet. Whilst I agree with a redistribution of land, there was no need to destroy the farms that gave so many black Africans a living not to mention experience they would get for when they set up their own small holding. Instead Comrade Mugabe preferred to buy large houses for his cronies, and guns to kill his people. Then blame the UK for all of Zimbabwe's ills. He has also made a long standing deal with the Chinese to allow them to mine all of Zimbabwe's minerals in exchange for guns (the ones that South Africa recently refused to unload and sent back to China). A lot of these Despots exchange one set of "masters" for another and ultimately it's the ordinary people that suffer.
Colonialism has destroyed countries in the past but African leaders are just as adept at causing even more misery to their people than say the British.

As the late great Steve Biko said before he was murdered in South Africa - the only people that can help Africans are Africans themselves and I firmly believe he is right.
