Any sign of a Johnny Frankham in the makings, Velvet?

Notorious rather than top notch.

The only Johnny Frankham I've heard of Cosi is the jockey

*sigh*

I got locked in the dressing rooms at the Albert Hall because of him and Chris Finnegan!

Riots and all sorts going on whenever they went head to head.

I never saw no horses though

i have an oil painting done by Kevin Finnegan - many years ago when he was down on his luck Mr woo lent him some money - he couldn't pay it back and gave us a painting as payment. Your post just reminded me - I can't think where it is - haven't seen it in quite a few years!

Soozy Woo

I watched it and did not enjoy .The kids getting taught to fight ,the fat red  head boy was very aggressive .I couldnt believe my eyes when the two young boys had a spar, the men all stood around  watching and the females walked about the yard like nothing is going on.And why that man returned to another gypsy camp when he had already been beaten to an inch of his life is beyond me .Chicken fights, animals being killed by the dogs, men drinking and fighting, kids fighting utter madness.

Now sadly passed away - as has Chris   but boy, was Kevin a good fighter.

Good painter too because I'm sure he had some of his oil paintings put on display at the National Gallery at one time. You could be sitting on something worth a few bob, Soozy!

I once spent a weekend with both Chris and Kevin (and my to-be husband I hasten to add!) and it was boozy to say the least   The antics they both got up to caused quite a stir.  Kevin ended up in the manager's office due to the fact that he was pouring bottles of champagne over the balcony onto Frankie Vaughan's (Gimme The Moonlight) head.

It didn't help that Frank was mid singing at the time

God, that was pre dinosaur years ago

Kevin and his (then) girl friend came to Sunday lunch at ours (many years ago) TBH - they were a really sad pair (he was full blown alchie) - she was quite delightful and yearned for the 'normality' of my house. She told me that she had to keep her room locked at all times as the brothers would steal her stuff to sell.

my painting is of London Bridge (quite small) framed and pretty good .........must look it out!

That sounds about right, Soozy (the booze problem).  Bloody shame really because both Finnegan's were great company and nice people when sober.  They were alright as drunks too - but a bit unpredictable and not quite so easy to handle or dissuade

We all used to wear The Lavender Hill Mob t-shirts when they fought

Can't believe you aren't turning Woo Towers upside down in the hunt for that painting

With regards to the gypsy blood programme (sorry for going OT earlier..!), there weren't many gypsies who actually made a big impact on boxing be it licensed or unlicensed in the UK.  Not sure why, but I suppose it was the regulation of having to wear gloves that put them off..?  The few that loitered around the unlicensed game in the mid 80's fared really poorly.  Then again, I'm so out of the loop these days that they could all be world champs

I had no idea that he was highly regarded as a painter - I think it might be in a box under the bed in the spare bedroom . As I said before MR woo lent him some money and he always had his fish and chips for free in the time that Mr woo worked in Cowley. I hadn't even realised he'd died (how very sad).

We were both big boxing fans in the 70's and early 80's but are completely out of the loop now!

Tyson Fury is doing pretty well at the moment and Billy Joe Saunders who fought for Britain in the 2008 Olympics is coming along nicely.

I knew someone would be up to speed with the latest comings and goings

Thanks Kimota;  I'm aware of both the above named but really not into the sport like I used to be.

Talking of Olympics, my mate Colin was involved with training some of this year's GB olympic squad.  I won't be watching that either though; the judging is too often way off beam.  Scandalous decisions aplenty over the years.
