A few weeks ago, everyone was saying that they were being invaded by giant spiders. Are people still finding as many? I haven't had a single monster since I filled my house with conkers, and I'm wondering if it's safe to throw them away yet - they are starting to get a bit mouldy now

I captured and released a couple last week, seems they are big old lonesome males "hunting" for a mate.I found that out on "Autumn watch".It was quite funny, one huge specimen was headed towards one of my sleeping rabbits sprawled out on the floor, must have though it would make good cover.
I don't mind spiders in the least.

Spiders don't survive for long in our house cos the dogs eat them. Sorry spider lovers, OH will occasionally manage to catch one and release it, but usually as soon as he makes a bee line for one, a dog will get there first. Me I don't go near, far too scared of those wriggling, tickly looking monsters

In that case, the conkers are staying!
no conkers really do work
Well I'm pleased you told us that.I'm off to get conkers.
I never knew that conkers kept spiders away - I`m going to collect some conkers tomorrow.

They really have worked this year, Yogi. I've got little piles of conkers by all the doors, fireplaces, and windows, and I haven't seen a single spider for the last 6 weeks. It's either the conkers or Mr G's socks

Hubby and son`s socks don`t seem to be working, so I`ll definitely try the conkers. I`m scared of spiders. It's either the conkers or Mr G's socks

We have never had a big spider in this house, yet we have lived here for 10 years. I'm a bit concerned, because my son's idea of a big spider is a little whispy thing lurking behind the sofa. I really want him to know how big they can get, but we just don't get them here. What's going on?

Your right there, a picture of one big nasty. Eeeeeeeeeeeeek.
hahahahahaha Suzi I love that picture.
We have been finding giant spiders all over the house recently, I have a picture somewhere of one we trapped under an upturned pint glass, I'll post it when I find it. Regular spiders don't bother me, but these giant beasts HOLY COW

In the middle ages the healthiest homes had the most spiders,as they killed the flies that spread disease.Open sewers in those days don't you know.
