Chester was the answer to Clue 13 yesterday - so you can count that one out as being an answer to any of today's clues.
for all your trunk and crate emergencies - Chester
Are we sure this answer was correct?....I think it is Chichester..

Chester was definitely correct yesterday - I just checked!

Chester was correct for all your trunk and crate emergencies.
What about battles? Were any fought between the cities that are left? Just wild ramblings.
since the answers are a play on words rather than straight forward Q&A,
was won by the last one - this could be zee or zed (the last letter) and is alongside (by) was won?
does this provoke any thoughts?

Swansea....swan - zee?
this quiz is from richard osman (i follow him on twitter) and the prize is the pointless book (due out on the 11th) so not a prize of great wealth, however i have now been outed on twitter as not playing "in the spirit" (gaga is now trending on twitter!!!!!) i don't think i am being unfair as if i was at work etc i would be asking colleagues, although someone is now (or has done) putting on wrong answers, if that is you, please don't, (i would rather you refrain from answering) as that would not be "in the spirit"
How did that happen?
the person who said i wasn't playing in the "spirit" is someone called ollie (ollie the smurf, a young man i think) he must also be connected to this forum as he posted a link on twitter to this thread.
He was probably googling answers aswell and somehow found the thread. Which means he was getting help too from google.

I had thought of Swansea for Clue 30 but couldn't really explain why ... I'm so confused now !

sounds plausable what about this city won the next one?
i still need the last 2.
apparently the obvious answer for 'a right tit' isnt correct. which makes me think bristol is wrong. any other thoughts?
i think leicest and derby are the last two - for lester piggot winning the derby. apparently folks on twitter are all concurring that it is sports related and seems more plausable than the football angle. am unsure now about bristol
this city won the next one Manchester
this city was won by the last one Derby
I think one of the answers is Derby, as in local derby, but I can't figure out who won what when. Could be Manchester (Utd. v City) or London teams. Be back later.
Well that's the beauty/frustration of cryptic clues, you have to consider all the possible meaning of all given words/phrases.
'THIS CITY' could refer directly to a city name
-OR-
THIS 'CITY' could refer to an entity called 'something City'
I think Suzy is right here, going on what Fluffy said ^

Googled Bristol and it is slang for breast or tit.

think thats too easy doesnt seem to fit with his style
Must be old age setting in! At least I had it linked with the correct clue.
Yes, its in Northern Ireland.
As someone suggested, maybe either combination will be accepted as both fit equally well.
Manchester - Derby
Leicester - Derby
My leaning is towards Manchester - Derby.
Yes.
Leicester and Derby make the most sense for the last 2
Leicester and Derby make the most sense for the last 2
I think i'll go with that.
thanks
Sorry, but I don't understand the logic of Leicester and Derby, so I'll not use these answers. I have my own ideas, so may just have to go with them until someone comes up with some brilliant answers that just jump out at me. Good luck everyone with whatever answers you put down!
I've got plausible answers for all 10. I'm leaning toward Leicester for the last one. Lester Piggott is probably the most famous winner of the Epsom Derby. So "This city (Leicester) won the next one (Derby)" and "This city (Derby) was won by the last one (Leicester)" Manchester I don't think is right as it would have to emphasise that City won and not United.
Was going for Manchester/Derby but have changed to Leicester/Derby for last 2 clues. Interesting to see answers in the morning. Good luck everyone.
People seem to be linking Clues 29 and 30 together - why should they have anything to do with each other? Richard could have done that just to lead us astray. Midnight is almost upon us, so I'd better send my email (although not confident all my answers are correct this time)! Dying to know the correct answers for 29 and 30 ... interesting!

I asked that very thing a while back....no-one answered!

Well worked out

Id got Sitrling, Birmingham and Coventry. Wouldnt have got St asaph as it wasnt on the list of cities i am using but once you said it i remembered it had been given city status recently.
dont understand the st albans answer. any explanation please?
bans = disallows which comes after St.Al which is last (i.e. final) mixed up
I have for number 33
Oxford as the show Lewis is filmed there ??

I think 33 is Hamilton
F1 driver.
"Hidden in the post" seems to imply that Richard has hidden the name of the city somewhere in the post on his blog.
Trying to think of some famous people named Lewis (could be a first name as well as a surname). Not a clue for Aussie Bird Handler.
Also, note that as a tiebreaker, you have to think up your own clue (with answer and explanation) for one of the cities not yet used in the quiz. The one he decides is best also wins a prize.
