you're right xochi...it took alot of courage for him to come out..it's a shame the so called 'macho' sports like rugby and football make it so difficult that men like gareth feel they need to live a lie.

I like him..... he seems really nice..... and at this stage I would be quite happy if he won....

I like him alot too but why does he keep saying i'm gay and a rugby player  who cares anymore, there are alot of gay personalitys 

Spongey, when we're staring the racist garbage in the face yet again in footy, I find it so impressive that he went on the show to prove there is a different way for sportsmen. I take my hat off to him, which I'm not doing for the FA!

Has he said it a lot Aims? He has gone through hell and back. Yeah, there a lot of gay personalities but largely in the showbiz world where it comes as part of the package! Very few 'out' men or women in sports, I assure you. 

the only(as far as i can remember) footballer to come out was justin fashanu..and he ended up commiting suicide because of the abuse he received

I haven't watched BB for ages but tuned in because I'm a fan of Michael and I hope that he and Gareth are the final two in this house

If they both go early I'll be tuning out again as don't like any of the rest much

I really like Gareth, he's in my Top 2.

I like Gareth. Down to earth honesty always appeals to me.

Michael and Natalie are up there with him.  

In entertainment, sure, but not sport, AImee?. I can only think of the Fashanu guy in football and thats it for high profile sportsmen. Even Graham Le Saux used to get taunted for being gay, and thats just cos he read The Guardian!!! Statistically there must be lots of in-the-closet sportsmen... so good on Gareth for his honesty.

Alfie has had some stick on DS for leading his wife on and not being open about his sexuality. 

Yes, it must have been very hard for her. My friend's brother "came out" after 15 years of marriage and it was very hard for his wife. But Alfie and his ex-wife do seem to have forged a good relationship and I've never heard him speak of her with anything more than the utmost love and respect.

He's quiet atm and he's not an OTT personality anyway. I'm hoping a few of the screechers go and he can be heard a bit more. He's a lovely bloke.
