Rofl  well I’m in the process of trying to find a gardener ...for obvious reasons ...so I’ll see your window box and raise you a hanging basket 

It certainly needs some colour and softening as that car park is awful to look at.

 Hanging baskets always look nice as you have colour from above.

I have to say I like the idea of them relying on the fundraising ....and the community spirit ...rather than the council throwing money at it

Yes, because if they put their hands in their own pockets, they may look after it more, whereas often council projects just get wrecked or neglected.
