When I post on Android I don't get any of the options usually found on the desktop, smilies, post picture, post video etc.
Anyone else use Android and dother have these functions?

Nope.. I just have a blank square too.
It's the same for all mobile devices. In order to keep the interface as clean and readable as possible, the editing options are not available on the smaller screens. You can still type smilies if you know the keystrokes.

Good to know the technical reason behind it. 
I only can remember three smilies; :-) and :-( and ;-)
In the event that those three smilies cannot adequately express all of your emotions, you could always keep a little note on your phone with more options.

Yeah, I'm not one for texting a lot either Cosi I do it cos I have to. Hell, I'm not even comfortable with speaking on a moby. I'd rather speak on speakerphone on the landline
