It is rather unpleasant watching this man cracking up on television.
He seems crackers to me. Talking a lot of nonsense.
Lack of self-awareness and loss of touch with reality are not what one wants in a leader.

Another thing - it's strange that some of these power-hungry people choose to wear fancy dress. Hamid Karzai does it too.  What they wear is not national dress but some sort of invented fancy dress. How silly!

He is just ranting now, - and doing himself no favours.

he's always been mad and bad. in the 70's he set up training camps where the ira could learn how to blow up london/manchester/birmingham , i have no  idea why tony blair had a  jolly over to libya a few years back and cuddled the bloke, indicating all was forgiven.

expediency i 'spose..

he ranted on tv(al jezeera) about the tunisian uprising, and  stated that  it was all set by the west, that the western journalists were involved(which is why some were attacked in both tunisia and egypt) and if they overthrew  ben ali  then they would have no peace and   women would be raped and children slaughtered and they'd all  die  in a bloodbath....

he knew then if uprising succeeded there  it would'nt be toollong before  his turn came.

at least in that , he was right.

I think that the reason Toners cuddled him is because of expedience.
We have a long history of supporting strong leaders of stable countries, and that's what he has been up till recently.
This is the big one though. If his government (sic) fails through people power then some of the most oppressive regimes of all may fall. The people of Syria, Iran, and Saudi Arabia may fancy a crack at is aswell. Unless of course and in order to avoid destabilisation, the arab states and/or Iran decide to suggest that Israel may attack them in order to unite the people, and defend themselves against Israel in advance, thus plunging the middle east and surrounding areas into a thermo-nuclear war, which may escalate........ I should imagine, although to be fair I'm not an expert.

I listen to 5live almost for 24 hours (minus the few hours I'm asleep) and I've been crying listening to some of the eyewitness accounts that don't get as far as the national news. I.e. a woman called the station this morning to tell about 60 people who had been persuaded inside a compound only to be mowed down by snipers and the bodies thrown out into the street. This has been witnessed by thousands of people who where waiting for the outcome of the 'conciliatory talks'. Just now on the news a man is crying because his young female relative has been shot dead because she went onto the balcony of her flat. Somebody use a sniper on Gadaffi please. Surely it's possible.

I agree that Gaddafi is as mad as a box of frogs, and is clearly very dangerous, but what right does the UK have to interfere in yet another country's politics, however bad the situation might be.  The UK is already involved in the highly dubious conflict in Afghanistan and the illegal war in Iraq, and we can hardly get involved in a third war.

I'm not talking about our army going in there, but I am talking about keeping Facebook, hotmail and twitter alive so that people can talk to us and convey the carnage that is happening in the country.

The guy is a nutter ,he's not called the butcher of Tripoli for nothing.
As for dying a martyr ,my ass.Gaddafi will be making plans to flee, probably to Cuba or Venezuela and live a life of luxury.

Scotland and America should be able to intervene, he should be held accountable for the Lockerbie bombing.

The family of PC Fletcher would also like to see him held accountable for their loss, when they bombed the Embassy.
