Just home from work expecting to see most of the tennis over, but see that rain stopped play. Murray and Ferrer are back on court now and it's early ish in the 3rd set. Ferrer took the first set 6-3 and Murray took the 2nd on a tie-break.

4-3 to Ferrer in the 3rd set and it's his serve to come.

Off to find out about the Nadal match.

Aha, Nadal beat Almagro im three sets, but....the 1st set went to a tie-break, so it wasn't a complete doddle.

Ferrer is now set point on Murray's serve....but an error on his behalf puts us back to deuce. However he quickly wins the next two points - and now leads by 2 sets to 1.

Ferrer to serve first in the fourth set Murray puts in a few canny shots and after a blistering rally, Ferrer nets the ball and Murray wins the first game, with his own serve to come.

Ferrer's response is to immediately break back. 1-1 4th set.

Murray looked like he was going to break Ferrer a couple of times, but Ferrer manages to hang on to it.

And after a long slog Murray fially holds a serve.

4 - 2 Ferrer.

Now Ferrer seems to have gone off the boil and is threatening to give the next game to Murray.

However he manages to drag it to Advantage in his favour.

Murray plays a winner to get it back to Deuce then nets the next point to give Ferrer Advantage again. However Ferrer now puts it long - Deuce once more.

But Ferrer prevails in the end and wins the game.

Murray has lost I think

Murray serving to stay in the match, but he just can't summon up the wherewithall and Ferrer takes the first two points of the game.

Murray manages to get the next point, but then gives the next to Ferrer.

But he hits it long on the next....and Ferrer is through to the semis, where he will meet Nadal.

Hi Amy. it was a struggle keeping up. Notwithstanding correcting my error.

I got home from work and saw the last few games.......it seems Murray didn't have the best strategy to play Ferrer on clay, perhaps? Ferrer was favourite going into the match though.

Didn't think Murray would even get this far after seeing him hobble around the court with back spasms last week!

So, what did Roland Garros give us today?

Not a lot initially, as it was raining and sufficiently so that the covers were on. Eventually though we get underway (over an hour late).

First match is Stosur v Errani.

Didn't get to see any of this match, but sounds as if it would have been well worth watching if I'd had the chance.

Errani not getting much of a look-in here, but it wasn't a total 'stroll in the Park' for Stosur - she almost lost the first game and she had set point in the 6th, but lost it. Then even in the 7th game she had three set points and needed them all to finally take the set.

Game, Set and Match to Djokovich.

Well....who'd have thought that Djokovic would win in three straight sets? !

Well done Maria Sharapova! She now has the complete set of Grand Slam wins over her career - and may well go on to win more - such a class act when on top form.

I'm not convinced that Djokovic can complete this rare feat of holding all 4 Slams at the same time as Nadal is playing at his awesome best. My heart says Novak... but my head is saying Rafa!

I'm saying Nadal too Cold Sweat. Not through any personal preference, I just don't think Djokovic is strong enough to withstand Nadal.

Quick summary of the ladies final.

On paper you would think that it would be an easy win for Sharapova....her being seeded 2 while Errani is only seeded 21....and the results would suggest that too, being 6-3. 6-2.

However you have to take into account that Errani ha overcome all opposition and got to the final and also that she (along with partner of course) has one the Ladies Doubles Final.

And when you look at the statistics for the match you can see that Errani put up a fair degree of resistance. In fact, even in the last game, when she was staring defeat in the face, she managed to have a break point against Sharapova.

Match stats

Most of the statistics are in Sharapova's favour, but Errani got more 1st serves in than Sharapova, she made fewer double faults, she made fewer errors over all and she won a slightly higher percentage of her break points.

Men's Singles Final

Djokovic wins the toss and elects to serve first....

,,,,and promptly loses his service. It goes to 0-40 before he pulls back to 30-40, but then loses the next two points.

Nadal follows by holding his serve to Love.

3rd game again goes to 30-40 before Nadal takes the next 2 point for another break of the Djokovic serve. 3-0 to Nadal.

Sharapova hits some amazing shots, but I wish she could do it without making those horrible noises every time. I find it off-putting and I bet her opponents do too.

Today's final is a mental battle between Nadal and Djokovic just as much as it is physical. Very interesting! At the moment Djokovic seems to be building in stature after a poor start. When he gets in the zone, he's just incredible.

Djokovic wakes up a bit and the Nadal serve goes to break poimt severel times before Djokovic finally takes it then holds his own serve, but only after Nadal forces him to give him two points.

3-2 to Nadal

But Djokovich breaks Nadal again to level the scores.

And as he takes the first point in the next game he is in the lead for the first time in the match, but promptly loses the next two points to fall behind again.

He claws it back to deuce, but then nets to give Nadal advantage, then double faults on serving the next point and hands the game to Nadal.

Nadal leads 4-3 with his own serve to come.

It's 15 all when we come back from the ads and after a massive rally Djokovic hits it long and Nadal's ahead  and 3 points later Nadal has the game sewen up, thanks to a few long shots from Djokovic.

Djokovic hold his next service game to 15, to stay in the 1st set. So now Nadal serves to take the set:-

A storming cross court shot from Nadal and the first set is his. 6-4.

Djokovic serves first in the 2nd set - it goes to deuce - Nadal wins the next point for Advantage and thus break point - and courtesy of a double fault by Djokovic Nadal is a break up in the second set already.

2nd game goes to deuce as well, and now Djokovic has Advantage on the Nadal serve. Nadal brings it back to deuce and then Advantage.

An instinctive shot from Djokovich puts it beyond Nadal and it's back to deuce again.

Finally though Nadal wins the next TWO points and now he's 2 games to love in the second set. Hairy moment though as he nets his first serve.

Djokovic game goes to deuce, he then takes the next two points to win the third game of the set this time.

Nadal leads 2 games to 1 and 1 set to nil.

Djokovic now has 2 break points on the Nadal serve....and breaks back.

2 all in the second set.

But Nadal takes the first point of the Djokovic serve.

And it's raining slightly....

Another long rally, another long shot from Djokovic and it's 30-15 to Nadal.

Next two points to Djokovic and he's now serving to hold his serve - which he does after another longish rally.

I can't see Novak coming through this as winner......unless Rafa starts missing his shots. He just can't do anything to counter.

Did Novak just smash his racket when he sat down at the chair? He did something the crowd didn't like, but ITV weren't watching it and went to an ad break.

Oh.....just saw the replay. He smashed his racket against the bench in frustration, taking a chunk out of the wood as a result

Drama over a ball call - but Nadal holds his serve. 3-3

Another hard game goes against Djokovic and Nadal's a break up again.

Errors beginning to creep into the Nadal serve. Not for the first time does he fault on his first serve, but he takes the point none the less.
