In addition to the changes to EPG numbers for Children’s and News channels on Freeview and YouView on the 3rd September, viewers in certain parts of the West Midlands, Cumbria, South Yorkshire and North-East Derbyshire may find they are missing BBC channels, including BBC One, from Wednesday afternoon onwards.
Whilst some viewing equipment will automatically process the changes, other viewers may need to do a retune on the afternoon of Wednesday 3rd September in order to get their BBC services back.
Only Freeview and YouView viewers who receive their television from the following transmitters and their associated relays in the relevant areas will be affected :

In these areas :
- Some viewers will simply need to retune Freeview TVs and digital boxes on 3rd September 2014
- Some equipment will make the changes automatically, some will prompt the viewer to accept a retune, whilst some will require the viewer to carry out a retune. Advice on retuning is listed under question 2 below.
- Viewers will lose channels unless they retune – to restore BBC services, viewers will simply need to do a retune.

1) What’s happening?
In the areas listed above, engineering work is taking place on one of the BBC’s digital terrestrial multiplexes. Unless a retune is carried out, some Freeview and YouView viewers in those areas may lose a number of BBC services including BBC One.
2) What do I need to do?
To update your guide and get the BBC services back simply retune your Freeview TV or digital box (note that some equipment may load the changes automatically). If you are not sure how to retune, advice is available at digitaluk.co.uk and from the Freeview advice line on 03456 505050. You can retune from any point after mid-afternoon on Wednesday, 3 September 2014.
3) What happens if I don’t retune?
You will not be able to access a number of BBC services, including BBC One, BBC Two, BBC Three, BBC Four, CBBC, CBeebies, BBC News, BBC Parliament and BBC radio services on your television or set-top box. BBC High Definition (HD) services are not affected.
4) Will I need to update my favourites and recordings?
Depending on your equipment, you may need to update your favourites list following a retune as some channels will be on new numbers. Some digital recorders may require scheduled recordings to be reset following a retune.
