Did he not realise that he was supposed to use the chanter to produce a tune, or was the drone meant to replicate his voice?!

The very fact he got any sound out of them are to his credit, his task was to hold a note for 30 seconds and he did
It's the world Bagpipe band championships this Saturday in Glasgow.Bands come from all over the work to attend.

I love the bagpipes, but I don't expect anybody to learn them in 2 days.

Ye cannae stoory, I love the bagpipes when they are played by an expert piper. I remember hearing a lone piper in a turret of a castle in Aberdeen and it made me cry it was so beautiful. It was at a ceremony when two Scots regiments were being amalgamated, in 1994. It all went quiet and up there the lone piper started .. twas lovely.
A firm I worked firm that hired a piper to play to us to celebrate their anniversary in a small cafeteria at lunch time. It was all I could do not to strangle him

Did he hold one note though or did he overlay another note other the top of one several times before it finished? It was a continuous sound but was it just one note?

But if you heard the self same piece in the highlands with nothing else around you, you'd love it.

I think Barolo would be good. You`ve got to fill them up with wind.
Oh yes ive heard a real band and it was great a number of times (theres always a pipe band at the Lewes bonfire march) ...There should be a rule about playing them in enclosed spaces thoughquote:Originally posted by cologne1:quote:Originally posted by CaptVimes:

You don't have to be Scottish to get goosebumps hearing the pipes stoory. I loved the lone piper in Aberdeen and I am Irish. It's a lasting memory and I've loved the bagpipes, well played, since that day.
But didn't Freddie do well to learn how to hold a note, bearing in mind he had probably never held bagpipes before? What do you think?

Getting a sustained note in such a short time was brilliant.

I heard it was quite difficult to become an expert piper and it's all to do with the strength of your lungs and the effort it takes to make a note. So our wee laddie did weel then? I can't do the accent, can I?

Until I saw the BB clock ticking up the seconds I didn't realise how long 30 seconds was lol. He did well
Does braw mean good stoory? If so, I think you are right. I am braw, and so is Freddie's piping.

Oh aye, it does that.
I love listening to the bagpipes especially at New Year they always make me feel very emotional
Probably not, but they do play the 'Sour Grapes' very convincinglyquote:Originally posted by Liverpoollass:quote:Originally posted by Barolo:
