Good morning Yogi and Squiggle.   It's another really hot day here today but I did hear it's supposed to cool down after today (I cannot wait).

I made hubby smother himself with arnica gel last night and he seemed surprisingly fit this morning.  No reals aches and pains.  He took himself off for a couple of hours on his boat before going into work.  I think he decided he deserved a treat.  All the riders are meeting up for lunch today, and to no doubt chat about their day.

Will catch up again later.  Hope all goes well at the hairdressers Yogi.

Good afternoon folks. joyron, you're right - it's going to be a bit cooler tomorrow, cooler still on Wednesday, and will be slightly below normal after that, just in time for the bank holiday. I have just finished clearing out my computer room upstairs ready for the boiler men coming tomorrow. I am having a new bolier, my existing one is old enough to feature on Antiques Road Show (but only worth peanuts for the scrap metal). But gas pipes are going to have to be put in as the old boiler was downstairs. Do I am going to have 3-4 days of banging, dust & coffee making (if I have a water supply), so it's going to be a fun few days for me. If it gets too much, I'll just retreat to my parents' old house.

Just think of how warm and cosy you will be in the wintertime El Loro. I'm just having a bedroom redecorated and I will be so glad when everything is back to normal but it is worth it in the end.
Ho squiggle and joyron

I'm almost looking forward to the wintertime (not really) so I can be warn and cosy. I know what you mean by being glad when everything is back to normal. I had left the house get into a bit of a state over the last few years because of my parents deteriorating health resulting in not a lot of time and a loss of income. But now I have some money from my parents' estate, I have been able to get on with things. Besides the boiler work, I've already replaced the flat roof over the bay windows at the front of the house, redecorated the front bedroom, sorted out the weird external water leak, and replaced the patio windows, kitchen door and window at rhe back of the house.

The leak was weird because there was no visible sign, just the sound of rushing water in the pipes indoors - plumbers and others had looked but couldn't find anything, but I persisted and eventually an expert came out, realised that I was right in that there was an external leak even though everyone else disagreed with me, and in due course it was replaced.

Once the boiler work is done, the next stages are in hand - replace the windows upstairs at the back and side of the house (not a huge job as there are 4 small windows in all - the front windows don't need replacing) and resurface the flat roof covering over the extension at the back of the house. That will be done in early July.

Then I'll need to get more internal and external decorating done. Oh, I've already replaced some bedding (ÂĢ500 ish ), some curtains, the washing machine and the cooker hood.

On, then there's the bathroom & the kitchen.

It's just as well that I've now got the money to be able to afford this without selling myself on Ebay

Hello everyone. It has been another lovely day up here in Scotland.
My visit to the hairdresser went well, thanks Squiggle. I feel much better now that my hair has been tamed.
El Loro, those are some major renovations you have been doing. Although it is a lot of upheaval for you, it will be well worth it in the end.
Joyron, I'm glad your hubby isn't aching too much today. He should be really proud of himself.

Evening everyone.  It sounds as though you have done a lot of work El Loro, with still a lot more to go.  Keep up the good work.

Glad your trip to the hairdresser went well Yogi.  I'm lucky to have my hairdresser come to me!!  He's due next week for a cut and colour.

Hubby had a catch up day with his fellow riders today.  I've seen loads of pictures taken of everyone all along the route, with some nice ones with a Grenadier (sp) Guard who presented them with their medals at Wellington Barracks.  Hubby was so pleased to come in first and have such a good time.  I'm sure when he left here on Sunday morning he thought that everything that could, would go wrong but it turned out really well.

Signing out for tonight.  Will catch up with you all again tomorrow.
Joyron
Good morning everyone. It's still sunny up here, at the moment.
Good luck with your visit to the dentist, Squiggle. I have to admit, I am a total coward when it comes to dentists. I had a bad experience when I was a teenager - the dentist drilled the wrong tooth,  then hit a nerve and I nearly fainted with the pain - I've never liked going ever since then.
Catch up later.

Back and completely undrilled.  First of all her nurse had had to go to hospital so as they needed 2 people for the procedure she said she would just fill it.  Then she found a little decay so she said an inlay wouldn't have been suitable anyway.  She has filled it but I can't see myself keeping the tooth long-term.  Good luck with your dentists appointment Joyron, and Yogi I know just how you feel.  Very very hot in town but much cooler home here. Looking forward to cooler weather for a bit now.

Afternoon everyone.  Glad you have done with the dentist for the time being Squiggle, albeit that you didn't have done what you expected.  I'm hoping all I will need is a quick clean and polish.  Not had any problems lately so hopefully all is well.

It's turned considerably cooler here today.  There is quite a strong breeze and the sun has disappeared for the time being at least.  No doubt it will be cold and wet this coming weekend as it's a bank holiday!!

Will try and catch up again later.

Afternoon all I went to my dentist for my normal 6 monthly checkup a couple of weeks ago. She couldn't see anything wrong, but I said that I had experienced some twinges in a molar on my top left. So she took a precautionary Xray which was just as well. The tooth is dead at the root, even though it looks healthy from the surface. She is leaving it there for the time being because it's gone past the point of being able to save it and it's not currently giving me problems. She reckons it had been dead for years but had started giving me problems in hospital because I was ill. She also found another tooth which needs a filling - there again from the surface looked OK. So I'll need that doing in a couple of weeks. Fillings don't worry me.

I have now had my old bolier, tanks and surplus piping removed, but until Friday I will be without any hot water or heating. So my apologies in advance if my posts are a bit smelly

Hi to all, have a happy day at the garden centre Yogi, hope the dentist finds nothing wrong joyron, and Han have you thought about knitting a Dr. Who scarf .  Do you remember Tom Baker in the role?  I thought he was lovely, he came to open our local fete once and we all gawped at him quite rudely, its seeing someone from the tellybox right in front of you, what must he have thought of us?

Hello again.    Got to the dentist only to find the appointment was actually for tomorrow.  I had written it in for the wrong day when I transferred my appointments onto the new calendar at the beginning of the year!!!    Fortunately they managed to fit me in between booked appointments, as it was only a check up.  Nothing to be done, just a clean and polish.  They even took some up to date x-rays and all is well.

Hope to get back later.
Joyron
Afternoon everyone.   Don't worry El Loro, everything will be fixed before you know it and you will (I'm sure) be happy with the results.

I'm glad the dentist was able to see me today.  If I'd had to go back again tomorrow I might have lost my nerve!!  I'm hoping for an easy day tomorrow.  After all we have a bank holiday weekend coming up and I'm sure life will be hectic.

Hope to be back later.  Wonder how Yogi's shopping expedition is going?

My shower is bust, and a cold bath is worse. I'll have to start wearing a pomander if I really start to pong
I now have a mental picture of a Frankie Detorri lookalike, wearing a pomander around his neck.

Joyron and Squiggle, the shopping expedition went well. Firstly, we bought some slabs to go under the greenhouse. Then we bought tomato plants, pepper plants, strawberry plants and chilli plants, growbags, plant food, a watering can, canes and spray bottles. The plants are staying in my hallway (which is a little suntrap) until the greenhouse arrives and is assembled by my handy sons. Hubby has now gone for a lie down to recover from my spending spree.

Good morning to all my lovely Freddie friends.    Sorry I didn't get back last night but, for some reason, I was unable to post!!

It's a dull, dismal day here so far.  They say the sun may make an appearance later.  We even had some rain.

Yogi, I hope all goes well with the greenhouse today.  Keep us imformed.

Hope to catch up later (forum permitting).
Joyron
Evening all.    Yogi, you are very patient.  I couldn't wait until next week to get that greenhouse assembled!!

I may not be about much until next Tuesday.  Hubby is supposed to be taking tomorrow off and we have quite a lot scheduled for the bank holiday weekend.  I will pop in when I can.

Will try and get back this evening, if possible.

I'm not really patient, Joyron. If I had the slightest clue how to assemble it, I'd be out there now with a toolbox.

If I don't catch up with you later, I hope you have a lovely time over the Bank Holiday. Don't be rushing round after everyone, make sure you take some time out for yourself.
Yogi19
I know just what you mean Yogi.  There are so many times I wish I could do something that I can't.  I'm sure greenhouse will be just fine.  You will have to spend the time while you are waiting getting everything ready to put IN in the greehouse once it's up and running.

Signing out for the night.  Will drop in when I can.  I don't have a heavy weekend coming up (No.1 son and children are away in our caravan) but I doubt I will be able to get on here much while hubby is about!!
