Evening Squiggle.  I love cruising because I'm much too afraid to get into an areoplane and I wouldn't get to see any of these places if it was not for a ship!!

I've got a penfriend in America who I've been writing to for over 50 years.  She (and her husband) have been here several times but I will never (sadly) get to visit her.  I know I could sail both ways but that would be rather over the top I think!!

Good morning Squiggle.   Hope you are well.  It's dull and dismal here this morning.  I hope the sun comes out later!!

Morning joyron I can't believe how cold it is here.  I didn't switch the central heating to come on this morning as they said it was going to be a mild night but its on now happy shopping!

Afternoon Squiggle.  Pleased to say the sun has come out now but the wind is still bitterly cold.

No Figtree today.  I wonder what's she's up to?? 

Yes joyron I wonder where our other musketeer is, never mind we soldier on, speak to you later maybe.

I hope Figtree is okay.  Perhaps she is busy in RL today.  I believe Yogi said she would try and get on tonight or tomorrow, so perhaps we may hear from her.  I hope the visit to Auschwitz has gone okay (if she went today).

A couple of the housemates i've supported previously Joyron might not be to your taste or you have disliked them, you might have liked some.. not sure?.

What's happened in the past stays in the past.  We have such a nice bunch in the Freddie club now I would hate it if we had serious disagreements about who to support.  I will try and be tolerant of your choices, if you will be with mine, and then I'm sure we will get on famously!!!

Hello Lovely Fredsters, I hope you are missing me a little bit - I am missing our daily chats


We went on our trip to Auschwitz today, and I took you both (Joyron and Squiggle) with me in spirit. It was an incredibly emotional and moving experience - one which will stay with me for the rest of my life. I have read countless books and watched many documentaries on The Holocaust but nothing prepares you for the reality. Auschwitz really epitomises man's inhumanity to man.
May the souls of all those who perished in the death camps, rest in peace. Those who survived that hellhole and went on to find loving relationships and families of their own, have my endless admiration.
I have always believed it was important that The Holocaust should never be forgotten, today has reinforced my opinion.

Sorry if I sound a bit sombre, it's just been that sort of a day.


Still haven't got the hugs and kisses smilies, but you know I'm sending both.xxxxxx

Evening Squiggle.  I agree that we will (hopefully) like the same person this year.  We have SUCH good taste we cannot possibly get it wrong.

Yogi, it was so good to hear from you.  I really wish I had been there with you in person (not just in spirit).  You are incredibly fortunate (not sure if that's the right word but it sounds appropriate) to have been able to experience what you have.  I understand all that you have said about not being prepared for what you have witnessed.  I will say a little prayer for those souls tonight; for the ones that did not survive and the ones that were lucky enough to "get through it" and come out the other side.  We should always remember what they had to endure.  It should NEVER be forgotten.

Because you are lacking in hugs I send you several      We all look forward to hearing all about it when you come home.

Squiggle, and Figtree whereever you are, I will catch up with you again tomorrow.  Nite nite for now. 

Joyron, as we left each block in the camp we thought the guide seemed to be quietly talking to herself - then we realised she was saying a short prayer. We thought it was such a lovely thing to do, especially as she does the job on a daily basis.

Good morning to all my lovely Freddie friends.  Hope you are well today.  The sun is shining again this morning but the wind is still cold!!

Yogi, if you get to read this, I hope the problems with the volcanic ash don't cause trouble for your return journey tomorrow.  Hopefully flights will be back to normal by then, although the forecasters are saying this is an ongoing matter.

Figtree,  I hope things are okay with you?  Hope you are not unwell again.  We look forward to hearing from you when you get the chance.

Hi to all, Yogi I had tears in my eyes when I read your account of your trip to Auschwitz, as it should be, you are right when you say this must never ever be forgotten.  What is it they say 'those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it' God forbid.  I too wish that Joyron and I could have really been with you physically as well as spiritually.  I am sending a big hug towards you now.  Have a safe flight home, and like Joyron I hope that your flight doesn't get delayed because of the volcanic ash cloud.

I had noticed Justa hadn't posted for a few days, perhaps she is decorating again? Hope she pops in soon.
At the moment, we aren't exactly sure what is happening with tomorrow's flights. There are no flights from Krakow today, so keep your fingers crossed for us. Otherwise we might be here a while longer than we planned.

Hi joyron, ages ago I asked Justafriend what I should call her as Justafriend seemed a bit of a mouthful and she said to call her Han which is, I believe, her 'real' name

Squiggle,  I have to say that I think Justafriend sound like a "Hannah" (I my mind anyway).  I wonder if she would mind if I called her that too.  I agree her "forum" name is a bit long!!  I really hope she is okay.  It seems rather a long time since we heard from her.

No response from Figtree either.  I really hope that she's not back in that place where they stick needles in you!!

I too hope Figgers is OK and not being stuck with needles   Han seems really lovely and friendly, I'm pretty sure she wouldn't mind.  I'm worrying about Yogi getting home as well.  I know you have to be safe and no-one could anticipate something like this cloud of volcanic ash but its horrible to see so many families at airports with their holiday plans in chaos.

I think it's Figtree we are concerned about with regard to being in the place where you get needles stuck in you; not Han!!

Joyron I am easily confused, and even more so recently.  I notice it all the time but I'm not worrying about it unduly because I think its just a side effect of what has been happening in my life.  Its nice to know anyway that Han and her RAF guy are spending time together and I hope that Figgers too is alright.  Speak to you again soon.

Squiggle, I know just what you mean about getting confused.  I do it all the time!!  I find my memory is not too good either.  Must be a sign of getting older.  My husband gets very frustrated with me because I ask him things that he has already replied to!!

Figtree, it is SO nice to see you back with us again.  We were all so worried about you.  It sounds as though you have had a pretty rough time.  Please take care of yourself and keep in touch with us. 

Figgers! What are they doing to get to the bottom of why this is happening?  Sounds like your specialist needs to sort out your medication pronto.  Hope you have someone to keep pushing for information and gently prod to get this sorted.  You are in my thoughts hun.

Agree with every word you have said Squiggle.  Figtree do you have someone there to "fight your corner", so to speak?? 

On another note, we have not heard from Yogi.  Hope she's not caught up in big queues at the airport!!
