Twee Surgeon.  Thank you for your kind words.  It was a most memorable day; one I've never had before and doubt I will ever have again.  It was very special.

My husband turns 60 in December, so I suppose that makes me the "older" women (by 25 days actually).  I don't think it will be possible for me to make his day a special as he made mine.

Gosh I am not going to moan about the blustery wind today! Those poor people who live in Cockermouth.....wow how bad is that?

I agree figgers about those people in the Lake District, one place there was said to have had 12 inches of rain in a day

Morning everyone. Due to the bad weather, I haven`t got my bulbs planted in the garden. However, the rain is off at the moment, so I`m going to try to get them in now - just hope they don`t drown, if it pours again.

Good afternoon everyone.  I hope you are all doing okay.  I feel so sorry for all those poor people who are being forced out of their homes by these terrible floods.  I won't be moaning about the rain we have had as it's nothing compared to what they are having to face.

Hi Jojo.. what time is it? weathers a bit 'orrible but boy I'm grateful not to have the problems of those poor folk in Cumbria.Eee you'll be collecting your pension next wk... don't spend it all at once!

Figtree,  my pension starts from next Monday but I will have to wait for between 2 to 5 weeks until I receive the first payment, until I click into the government's system!!

I don't intend spending any of it but will be saving it to put towards the cost of our mediterranian cruise next October.  After that I'll have to think of something else to save for.  XXX

hiya Fredsters   Joy, that sounds like a good plan.  Save your pension for your cruise.  Have you made sure you have got the highest amount?  If you haven't got the requisite stamps when you are 60 to qualify for the higher amount, you can link it to your husband's contributions.  Even though I was divorced, they still linked my pension to his contributions and I qualified for the higher amount.  Just a thought.

Fig, you and me are inseparable.  KP will not come between us.  A difference of opinion is healthy.  You are my lifeline Fig .. my driver .. would I upset you for the world?

Thanks for your concern Twee Surgeon but the answer is yes I am on full pension.  When I gave up work I continued to pay Class 3 voluntary contributions to make sure I had the required number of years to qualify.

I'm signing out for the night now.  Hope all my wonderful Freddie friends have a good night.  I cannot help thinking about all those poor souls who will not be sleeping in their own beds tonight; or for many months to come.   XXXX

The sun is shining here, which makes a pleasant change, but more rain is due later.  I keep thinking about all those poor people who are having to cope with that awful flood water which has enveloped their homes.  I feel so lucky that it hasn't happened to me.
