in a superior voice

and i do think he does think he is better than people

and if i had to live with him and his ways he would probably do my head in eating making noises etc, talking slow to people as if they dont understand the words he is saying,i have seen all this.

But they are ganging up on him he must be so uncomfortable in there,it is verging on bully gang tactics because he is such an easy target.

I am delighted he says his piece and it does take a strong character to take all he has and nomination every week

long may he stay over the nasty gang.

I just do not think he is without his faults with his irritating ways, but the way they deal with him is sickening.

Freddie is on an entirely different level to Lisa, Kris & his little gang. They are pond life and are so far down the evolutionary scale they make amoebas look sophisticated.

I don't think you can call it talking down to people. He's been brought up and educated to speak the way he does.Should we also complain about ,say, Lisa talking like she's ashamed of where she's from. I think Freddie show's great restraint in his dealing with being sniggered at and bitched about. I'd have shown myself up by Screaming at shouting at them all by now lol.

He's a credit to his parent's wether he's from a country estate or a housing estate. The rest of them are a disgrace. Smiler

Arguing in a calm, cool and rational way always drives the other person nuts. Same as ignoring them, they hate it and has more effect than actually arguing with them and raising your voice.

lol i know that's why it's so annoying... i do know it is a good trait to have but i don't argue often (i'm a very very slow boiler and far too laid back and very much... ahhh whatever, but every so often you need a good screaming match.

Lisa does it every time she opens that anus she calls a gob though and that winds me up even more Shake Head

It should not matter where you are from to have manners i didnt mention that, that goes without saying

Does not change my opinion that he does patronise and talk slow and superior at times

I know someone who does this and he reminds of him.

I don`t think Freddie talks down to people, nor do I think he feels superior. If they think he sounds a bit different - you could say they all do. From different places and backgrounds.
They should be more tolerant and more accepting.
I think some of the resentment towards Freddie in the house is due to inverted snobbery.
Freddie has made conscious efforts to integrate and to encourage others to do so. Whereas some of the others have consciously kept their distance and isolated him.
Free is alright.

They are mean and spiteful to him no doubt about it

It shows them up for what they are

I dont know how much i could take of him talking down and appearing to be talking to someone below his intelligence.

I dont think he is without faults

I think Freddie is guilty , at times, of talking down to Lisa, but she shows her lack of any social skills with not being able to have a reasoned debate with him, her reply is as per usual....telling him to pee off. So in a sense i kind of see why he does it. I think Lisa feels she is beneath him and therefore acts like it. I dont think she will get the better of him tho,

I also know someone who is very like Freddie, right down to how he eats. He's been a friend of the family for many many years and drives me insane at the dinner table. However, he's a lovely, well-meaning guy and i can overlook the orgasm's at mealtimes and the way he laugh's as i can see the genuine person behind it.

Freddie just stands out in there as the rest are a rowdy bunch of low life. I feel sorry for him. He's doing no harm and i'd rather my son's turned out more like him than Kris or Charlie!

I would definitely agree with you mandala. I think Freddie may be perceived as "talking down" to people but I'm absolutely sure this is his way of talking rather than being indicative of him having any superiority complex or something.

When did people stop trying to better themselves? When did it become a crime to be polite, show respect, be thankful for what you have, and want to contribute to society?

I think that is the problem that the housemates have with Freddie. He doesn't speak down to them, they just can't understand him when he uses a word with more than one syllable. So, he adjusts his speaking style and word choices so they will understand him.

He is intelligent and his world doesn't revolve around what the latest celebrity craze is this week. He is expected to interact with a "visual merchandiser", 2 glamour model wannabes, a loud mouthed ignorant woman on the dole, and a handful of other misfits. How he has been able to keep sane is a mystery to me.

Totally agree Thumbs Up

I think when Freddie speaks steadily and calmly he is trying to treat the conversation in an adult and reasonable way without aggression.
I wonder if that is what some may see as "talking down"? I don`t see it like that at all. I think he is simply carefully avoiding misunderstanding, any sign of aggression or antagonism.

no i dont confuse the two

once they start f ing an blinding and screaming freddie is always going to win and come off looking better and rightly so

Lisa and co will never win because he shows them up for what they are.

But he started to talk to lisa and if he was getting on his superior high horse i dont know what is lol

She was right to tell him not to talk to her like that imo

Oh yes! I would never describe myself as intelligent, yet Kris and Karly both did in their VTs on opening night. I may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, but I put my shoes on the right foot correctly most of the time.

A lot of people who support Freddie have said that they would find it difficult to live with him, but I would be intrigued. I'm not afraid to show my ignorance by asking questions and I think Freddie would explain things well enough for me to understand.
