When I see Freddie talking to people he comes across as quite a hazy kind of guy covering all the bases ier likes both sexes, non confrontational and yet quite opinionated - but hesitant "I dunno", looking up at the heavens as though he can see Jesus Himself floating down on a harp whilst simultaneously rubbing the back of a girl's neck in such a "distracted" manner she could be forgiven for thinking he is unaware of it. He is aware of it. In the Diary room he made not one blunder or pause as he nominated his choices. He was direct and quite animated!
He is also intelligent enought o know that not everyone likes bolied eggs actually and some might be offended by the use of them in a salad. Why didn't he just leave it as the vegetables? Adding egg was a deliberate act of provocativeness to see what reaction would occur. He could claim he was being nice and helpful and no one could argue with him but at the same time he could get tension mounting because he has added an ingreient not everyone likes.
He was quite forthright about his feelings for Sree in the garden after nominations, but nobody else joined in and he started to back peddle.

Oh Freddie! You wily little manipulator!

I think it had more to do with the fact he made a house meal without asking anybody if they wanted it. He decided what they were all having and used the ingredients.

Again, how dare he think of others and make them a salad Mad

Ungrateful bunch of ingrates.

Absolutely agree, what a totally self-centred housemate he is... Roll Eyes

I don't eat eggs lol, I would have been offended and said to him "Oh Freddy - I can't eat that lovely salad now as you have put yucky boiled eggs in it!" then burst out crying, run off to my room, sulked then gone back to ask him for a hug and perhaps one egg - just to try.

I think I need a bit of clarification.
Would you have been "offended" or just disappointed to find eggs in the salad?
Would you have been devastated to find onion in the salad?
Should he have put all the ingredients in the salad in separate dishes and run the risk of people self harming because of the extra washing up? Big Grin

I so agree Lassie. Personally, I would have been grateful to him for having saved me the bother.

Besides, the eggs weren't actually in with the salad, they were in a separate bowl and Cairon helped himself to three!!

Is it not possible to pick out the bits of Salad that you do not wish to eat? I am forever chucking celery off my plate.

Having said that - still don't like Freddie.

He is a bit naive in the ways of the world, and especially commoners.Hes not used to aggressive neck rollers getting all stroppy about the use of salad ingredients or hard boiled eggs.Brought up in boarding school, you eat whats put in front of you ,you cant afford to be picky, food is food.

Also he wanted to do something nice ,for everyone, and he wants to be liked. He said so,thats not devious or manipulative when you put your cards on the table like that.

Hes a bit of a space case and pretty eccentric compared to most of the others who probably havent come across an aria before. He didnt think he was going to offend anyone by making a meal, and it says a lot about their petty narrow minds to get upset ,ungrateful lot!

I honestly don't understand people. Someone does something like make you a salad, ok it is not to your liking, but instead of thanking them you slag them off for doing it? How ungracious and ungrateful can you get?

He went to boarding school so he knows fully well that making food for large groups of people causes problem. and there is always friction. He is trying to win by being the nice lame duck. He is a player. Nod

I don't think that entered his head at all. If he didn't do anything, people would be moaning because he sits on his backside and does nothing.

He did a thoughtful thing and people are calling him the devil incarnate Eeker

Perhaps he should have just made himself something to eat. Oh no wait, he would've got slagged off for being selfish and only making himself something Roll Eyes

LL I am not saying he is a bad person Just that he knew what he was doing. and that other people would wine and he could look vunrable. He wants to win and there is no shame in that ... it is why they are all there. Can I also add My telly is broken so I am seeing very little of the show and while I stand by my reading of him... there are others in there who might be much worse and he could by defalt be my favorite. Hmmm, might have to email Freddie and mention to him that Zaph doesn't like beetroot - what do you think?

Agreed, He's is just trying to do nice things and make friends... making a salad (with or without eggs in it) is hardly a crime.

I'm really interested by how much Freddie has polarised opinion here... a proper marmite job eh? For what it's worth, I really like him.

I agree about the LF. Anything could be happening to totally change our perceptions about each HM.
