I would normally look for a rating if I'm staying for more than one night.  However, if I'm just going somewhere for a concert, I'm happy enough with a travelodge or a b & b that's been rated good by reviewers.

it sounds like something got into the growing process with whatever fertiliser they used.  I also don't think they have been washed properly although if the bug is already in the product, no amount of washing with get rid of it    scary!
