we went to rome with 2 of the kids loved it.
not a package...stayed in old fashioned traditional apartment ,

Yes , Mr B and I went β¦not a package β¦we spent 4 days in a hotel in Rome β¦then hired a car and travelled down the coast to just past Pompeii

We never actually got to Pompeii cos we got pick pocketed on the way down there β¦so steered away from the crowds from then on !

how horrid..
we avoided crowds completly as the hour changed that weekend and I changed it the wrong way round, so ended up getting to the colosseum before it even opened!
and MrM got pulled aside by immigration for ages when we came home as his passport expired. but they let him in with drivers licence and he had to renew straight away.

We had my daughter with us , she was about 12 β¦and managed to get bliddy stuck behind the barrier in duty free
