And if Rooney is so bad how come he only just missed the golden boot last season?
Because other teams have several players that can score goals but Man U seemed to have only him and played him game in and game out til he was run into the ground.

There are a lot of reasons why players produce for their clubs and not for their country: position, team mates, formation etc.

But I do think for some of them that the fact they're not being paid 150 grand a week has an impact. Not for Rooney btw.

This is international football, if you had read my comment you may of noticed I said "the better player over the two games" Oh... and Rooney just lost the ball again.
If Heskey's the answer I don't want to know what the f*cking question was. He can't even get a game for Villa he's so pants. He's also the reason Rooney can't get the ball when he plays for England. Donkeyboy gets the chances, did you not see his fantastic one on one with the keeper which he missed from five yards out against the USA?

Heskey needs to come off, Joe Cole on and Gerrard playing behind Rooney then we might just see one of the best strikers in the world playing with some belief.

Heskey has actually been the better player though, he has held on to the ball and has even helped out defensively. If you ask me Rooney seems to be bigger than the England team itself. It honestly looks pathetic that Rooney needs someone to do all the work for him so he can simply tap it in the net.

I thought that too Veggie - he was injured too don't forget. I do not want to see Rooney being blamed for England's failure - that isn't fair.

We don't need a defensive striker lol we need someone to put the ball in the back of the net. Heskey couldn't score in a brothel and his final ball is always disastrous. Rooney's getting zero service playing alongside one of the worst footballers in the Premier League. You don't seem to think a striker should be given service I'm kind of speechless at that. I'll assume you're a rugby fan.

I think the problem Isadora is that we have had nothing but Rooney Rooney Rooney for the last couple of months.
The backlash against him wouldn't be so strong if it wasn't for the fact that a lot of England fans feel that their team has become Rooney plus any other 10 rather than England.
If he wants all the adulation he has to take the criticism too
