Hi everyone. I don't come to the lounge very often as I'm a bit shy, anyway today I worked out my weeks eating plan and am ready to start tomorrow. I come into the lounge and what do I see, this thread. I hope you don't mind me joining you I could really do with the support and I don't have time to join WW or Slimming World. I have quite a lot to lose so I want to take it one day at a time.

Also sometimes when you think you are hungry you are actually just thirsty, so it is a good idea to always reach for a drink first rather than food.

Bagel, don't worry about it, just copy it and post it here as well. Valentine

Thanks Fluffy. Can we post recipes on here sometimes the problem with dieting healthy eating is that it can get boring?

100% pure squeezed/pressed fruit juice is your next best alternative. Remember though, no matter how much fruit juice you have in the day it will still only count as 1 of your '5-a-day'.

Another tip for better success. Don't try and change everything at once, especially if you feel you've got a lot of things to change. Small and gradual changes are more likely to lead to long term permanent changes. Large and immediate changes are more likely to lead to confusion and frustration and fewer long term permanent changes and even a sense of failure which could tip one into that downward spiral again.
And don't give up what you're striving for if you make the odd blip, just put it behind you and continue towards what you're aiming for.

For anyone who has ever wondered just what size of portion count as a portion for your 5-a-day here's some info. From the linked page you can also get a list of quantities for a whole range of fruit and veg (and no, 5-a-day doesn't mean you can get away with 5 peas)

Yeah, I used to get really annoyed about that because EVERYONE and EVERYWHERE used to go on at length about your'5-a-day', but no-body bar no-body ever said what exactly 'a portion' was
