My husband and I were on Atkins for awhile, and I remember LOTS of the same dessert: jello with whipped cream. We did our best to pretty it up, by putting it in a lovely glass sundae cup...
Lori -Low carbing is not as popular here as it used to be,mostly because of scare mongering,i well remember the days when jelly and cream was the only sweet thing to pass your lips.
I am a member of a really good low carb forum, and there are now loads of recipes for low carb cakes and puds, that dont taste as revolting as the stuff Atkins bought out,we tend to be a bit behind the americans with the latest diet trends,by the time it reaches us you have moved on to something else,i think there is a diet out there for everyone ,but its hard to find the right one,i have been low carbing for 6 years, and i know its the one for me,because i feel really well on it,and am able to maintain fairly easily.

My parents had great success with the South Beach Diet, which is a kinder, gentler Atkins.
A bit more carb-friendly, a bit easier to stay on.
I know there are lots of lo-carb diets that work. My problem with Atkins is that I began having trouble keeping up with my running partner--apparently you DO need SOME carbs.

i am struggling, i have the motivation but it's not happening at all my biggest problem i think at the moment is i have had my "time of the month" for near on 4 months now and i really don't feel like exercising and i constantly want comfort food
Aww. Bet you wouldn't have had it any other way though, quote:Originally posted by The Singing Ringing Tree:She is almost 2 1/2 Ive been breastfeeding or pregnant for over 3 years now .... I know you don't feel like it much, but a little bit of gentle exercise can actually help.quote:Originally posted by *Yogi Bear*:

You might want to consult your GP if you've been going for 4 months so far.

it's my first one in 8 years cause i was on the injections so i think it is just my body trying to kick back into rythym... going to give it another month and then go see about it
But you onlygo without carbs for 14 days. After that you slowly re-introduce them. Doesn't seem like there would be a problem. Not that I've actually done it myself.quote:Originally posted by Lori Hope:

Yes, but those 14 days were hell.
Even though they get introduced, the kind of carbs that I was used to as a runner (pasta, bread) are discouraged on Atkins. They want you to get your carbs from VEGETABLES, of all things....
i didn't mind the no carbs the one time i did atkins... the reason i stopped was my breath
How about a nice avacado and potato mash, followed by a banana and washed down with a nice glass of carrot juice.quote:Originally posted by Lori Hope:quote:Originally posted by Extremely Fluffy Fluffy Thing:But you onlygo without carbs for 14 days. Actually, you should try Jason Vale's '7 pounds in 7 days'. It's really quite good....and tasty too.
But that would go surely after the 14 days and you started having carbs again?quote:Originally posted by *Yogi Bear*:

Um. Is there anything in there to CHEW??
Sort of! When you zap it up with avocados, yogurt or bananas it's a bit thick, so you sort of chew it.quote:Originally posted by Lori Hope:quote:Originally posted by Extremely Fluffy Fluffy Thing:How about a nice avacado and potato mash, followed by a banana and washed down with a nice glass of carrot juice.quote:Originally posted by Lori Hope:quote:Originally posted by Extremely Fluffy Fluffy Thing:But you onlygo without carbs for 14 days. Good Morning to all weight loss Peeps
Will be doing another work out today and am thinking of stepping it up to more times a week or longer sessions as it is becoming easier as time goes by. Already losing the inches as my jeans are now needing a belt
Hope you all have a great day today

Hope you all have a great day today
Just popped in to wish you all continued success in achieving your goals, good for you and I for one hope you get there quickly
Right then, today so far:-
Got up
100 repititions on the exerciser
10 minute rest/cooling down period
Cup of tea
Am about to have a fat-free strawberry yougurt
Shortly after will have some honey roast ham and another cup of tea and watch the GP qualifying.
Exciting life I lead, don't I?

Are snaffles fat freeeeeeeeeeee.....
My snaffles are fat free then, I don't get to do it often...
I have now had a little tub of vanilla custard and am seriously contemplating a cappuccino and maybe a yogurt bar, And then again I might have a nice crunchy Granny Smith apple.
Choices, choices....
Choices, choices....
am going to cancel my gym membership at the end of this month... i never go and it is a waste of money, i had hoped that the ÂĢ25 a month would motivate me but it doesn't, i do go on my wii fit every night and just bought jillian michaels exercise thing for the wii as well, i like her on the biggest loser and i like the fact i can chose my level and length of work out. If the wii fit has one flaw it is the waiting time between the exercises.

Well I've had a kick start to my diet. Disc prolapsed on Monday, had emergency op, come home 10lbs lighter, yay!
Yay for your daughter! I'm up early this morning to do my Lance Armstrong LiveStrong Challenge bike ride. After 45 miles, I can pretty much eat what I want, right?
TV: heck of a way to diet! Hope you're feeling better--we missed you!

your mind works like mine
Was out for a meal last night and we decided to have pudding when we got home, and we all fancied sorbet, grabbed what i thought was sorbet out of the freezers at the supermarket and served it up when i got home, it was beautiful and very refreshing. This morning i looked at the pot and it is actually fat free, gluten free, dairy free lemon ice cream... I think i may become addicted to it it is so lovely
Did 12 hours wallpapering yesterday, I really hope I've lost some weight this week

Daughter completed her race in 45 minutes and I am definitely doing it next year

Sadly, it never works that way for me. I get home and figure out I've been eating the highest-fat, highest-calorie offering that exists.

I thought it was a pretty good time as well considering she didn't do any traininng
I however do need the training which is well on the way. Will be having another session tonight on the rowing machine. Will need to start thinking about running though, maybe start off with walking first with that 1:4 hill outside my house
Good luck with your trip to the gym today and I hope Gemma has grown a sense of humour for this week

Good luck to all you healthy eaters and exercisers
I hope you're all feeling better in yourselves at reaching those goals

I've had about 200 calories in the last 30 hours.
I have had a hangover though.
I've lost a bit of flab off my belly too lol.
I would rather be 3 stone heavier and be able to travel back to Saturday though.

The Monday morning weigh in elicits a drop of a pound and a quarter.
