Lori -Low carbing is not as popular here as it used to be,mostly because of scare mongering,i well remember the days when jelly and cream was the only sweet thing to pass your lips.
I am a member of a really good low carb forum, and there are now loads of recipes for low carb cakes and puds, that dont taste as revolting as the stuff Atkins bought out,we tend to be a bit behind the americans with the latest diet trends,by the time it reaches us you have moved on to something else,i think there is a diet out there for everyone ,but its hard to find the right one,i have been low carbing for 6 years, and i know its the one for me,because i feel really well on it,and am able to maintain fairly easily.

maggie:

My parents had great success with the South Beach Diet, which is a kinder, gentler Atkins. Wink
A bit more carb-friendly, a bit easier to stay on.

I know there are lots of lo-carb diets that work. My problem with Atkins is that I began having trouble keeping up with my running partner--apparently you DO need SOME carbs. Wink

I know you don't feel like it much, but a little bit of gentle exercise can actually help.
You might want to consult your GP if you've been going for 4 months so far.

But you onlygo without carbs for 14 days. After that you slowly re-introduce them. Doesn't seem like there would be a problem. Not that I've actually done it myself. Smiler

Yes, but those 14 days were hell. Wink
Even though they get introduced, the kind of carbs that I was used to as a runner (pasta, bread) are discouraged on Atkins. They want you to get your carbs from VEGETABLES, of all things....

How about a nice avacado and potato mash, followed by a banana and washed down with a nice glass of carrot juice. Big Grin
Actually, you should try Jason Vale's '7 pounds in 7 days'. It's really quite good....and tasty too.

Sort of! When you zap it up with avocados, yogurt or bananas it's a bit thick, so you sort of chew it. Smiler

am going to cancel my gym membership at the end of this month... i never go and it is a waste of money, i had hoped that the ÂĢ25 a month would motivate me but it doesn't, i do go on my wii fit every night and just bought jillian michaels exercise thing for the wii as well, i like her on the biggest loser and i like the fact i can chose my level and length of work out. If the wii fit has one flaw it is the waiting time between the exercises.

Was out for a meal last night and we decided to have pudding when we got home, and we all fancied sorbet, grabbed what i thought was sorbet out of the freezers at the supermarket and served it up when i got home, it was beautiful and very refreshing. This morning i looked at the pot and it is actually fat free, gluten free, dairy free lemon ice cream... I think i may become addicted to it it is so lovely

Sadly, it never works that way for me. I get home and figure out I've been eating the highest-fat, highest-calorie offering that exists. Wink

I thought it was a pretty good time as well considering she didn't do any traininng Laugh
I however do need the training which is well on the way. Will be having another session tonight on the rowing machine. Will need to start thinking about running though, maybe start off with walking first with that 1:4 hill outside my house Laugh

Good luck with your trip to the gym today and I hope Gemma has grown a sense of humour for this week Laugh
