Some years ago, I was with my (much older) sister-in-law in a grocery store, buying wine. The checker, about 19 years old, asked her for her ID. She was SO EXCITED, because she'd been CARDED, when she was so clearly over the age of....35ish, until the youngster said to her with a perfectly straight face, "We have to card everyone who looks like they are under 60." Took the wind right out of her sales.

my brother gets "carded" (as you call it) regularly when buying beer & wine from Sainsburys...   the jammy git is 37!
