No, not really. It should be as easy as that. The only thing is that one day in the not too distant future, you'll log in and the page style might look a bit different. If you log in to the support forum of Live Cloud you'll be able to see how things will look and you'll be able to read some of our interactions with Live Cloud (same Mods as here) However if you want to participate then there will be another signing in required and a profile sheet to complete.

Do you know what guys...the mods didn't have to move the forum to LC...they could have just pulled the plug on us like C4 did. As far as I can remember..the move has always been on the cards. I think we should appreciate the fact that they are trying their hardest to keep us together....yes, the new place is different and will take some getting used to...but at least we are welcome there.

In answer to Puddy, thank goodness we're not all sheep and don't like to be herded into something which is not a forum.

Its like the end of the C4 forums all over again and we all have a choice to make. This GaGaJoy forum has been excellent, but apparently it does not suit the suits who run the show. They seem not to care that all of us were quite happy with this place.

Yogi, go in there and switch all your preferences/permissins and notifications off, (untick all the boxes)that'll mean no-one can send you anything, then see if you can delete your profile. If you can't then ask Rosemary and co if they can do it for you as you only want forum access.

Unfortunately I was not able to see BB this year and felt completely out of the loop here,

I've joined so many forums in the last year it's silly and all of them have something different to offer.

But I think as others have said, if you like this layout and this style of forum the Eve guys running things have bent over backwards to accomodate us, and as far as I can tell they are doing their best to try and please all of the people all of the time, which is admirable but there will always be one or two who will not like any changes.

All I can say is Roll On the switch over and we can all laugh at how worried we were that it would be different when it isn't.

It's ok to ask questions and be concerned.... but I've seen many digs and accusations aimed at the people who run this place lately. It's just plain rude.

Not at all Fluffy. I only learnt what the icon here does about two weeks ago myself. Up to 5 minutes ago I thought the permalink was just a refresh button..... it's only when I saw the above post I suddenly thought ooooh...and went to test it.

No...surely a forum lives or dies at the hands of the peeps posting? I'm not on many forums...but I visited more during the whole C4 panic....lots of different formats...but it wasn't that which made me decide whether I wanted to be there...it was the content, the general feel and the peeps there. A forum can have the best format going, but if the members, or a group of them, decide to turn it into a nasty place...then why hang around?

It's like Jordan and all her plastic surgery...the packaging changes...but the content is still the same.

The point is paace .... they're not and it's their decision, not ours. We're here for fun but this is their livelihood! So we need to accept their decision and move on.

If some people decide the format is more important than the people, that's their choice to make. I just don't think that negative (oooh I used that word) threads help any of us.

A year ago many of my friends from C4 decided to go and camp out on a new forum with a different format. I followed them (reluctantly because I was a HUGE fan of the C4 format) because they were more important to me than the forum. It took a couple of months but I grew to LOVE that format as much as this one.

Exactly Paace! And that's why moving over to Livecloud is still the best option for everyone. A large (mostly happy) community is what matters the most.

I am sure Ducky that you are internet savvy. The reason I started this thread was to give a voice to all of us. Those who are confident and thrilled at all the new features and those who like the idea of something simple, easy to use and friendly.

The format of this forum WORKS. Its easy to use, it feels like a living room full of people to chat to. So far the Live Cloud bit, even the forum part, feels like a huge aircraft hangar, lonely and cold. And to those who say "pah that is SO old-fashioned now" well that is what they still use on Eve.

As I said, time will tell. I hoped we could discuss it before the change but as everyone has pointed out some people aren't that bothered. Well, sobeit.

Yes..I tried others...one of which is the place I am most comfy. I came here cos it's where the majority went and I was hoping to enjoy BB as I did last year...with a group of like-minded peeps. However...BB is awful!!! But, I still come here...just not as often. I'm actually over at LC more cos I can't comment on the BB stuff and it's just as annoying having to switch from the Lounge..or the forums for other progs etc as it is to navigate around LC (and LC is no more difficult than that really)...yet no-one complains about that. At least at LC..I can keep track of places I've posted at the side of my page...I don't have to keep hunting it out!! The format of the forum is just different...and surely there are far more important things to worry about than that??

Oh...and whilst grateful to Bov for finding this place and keeping us together in our time of need...this isn't his forum...he found it, he didn't create it. (not a dig at Bov who is a legend for his hard work in our darkest days!! )

When we moved over to the forum I was referring to..... we had weeks of the most hilarious posts as we were all trying to learn the new stuff. All the stuff we can use here (but not on C4) like smilies and pictures. I've cocked up with the best of them and come out the other side.

Technichally no (but I'm not 100% sure how their system works). You do not need to have a buddy list at all, unless you are going to restrict who can view Your content or send you things.

Have checked this out now and the way the system works is that if yo accept someone's invitation to be THEIR buddy the system automatically makes them YOUR buddy. So if you don't want a buddy list, don't accept any invitations.

Yes, that's correct. If you don't care to purchase a VIP then you just keep rolling along as you have been doing. That's not being taken away, the VIP adds more options but you do not have to partake in them to continue along as you do now.
