I have been very circumspect and just shouted a bit  and called the BBC a few unsavoury names.

You should tweet a complaint (I bet you are not the only one who has been caught out).

I'm not on twitter, but I have sent them a complaint via their on-line complaints system.

Glad you have, they are buggers for doing it. If you remember back to the creation of this thread I cited the same reason.

I please with the result of qualifying though. Looking like it could be another fun race.

Got a reply about my complaint.

'Thank you very much for getting in touch with us about BBC One’s Wimbledon 2013 coverage, specifically a Formula One trail which was broadcast during our programme on the afternoon of 6 July.
We were naturally very sorry to learn of viewer unhappiness over the content of the trail, so we immediately reviewed the programme segment and raised the concerns with the senior management team responsible within BBC Sport.
The reference to Lewis Hamilton having secured pole position in the Formula One German Grand Prix Qualifying earlier that day was an unfortunate error made by the Wimbledon production team.
The intention was to promote BBC One’s coverage of the German Grand Prix Final the following day, but in doing so the team failed to realise that at that point BBC One’s highlights of the Qualifying had yet to be broadcast.
We apologise for this error and that it affected your enjoyment of our Qualifying highlights programme. As a result of your complaint, BBC Sport have reminded their teams of the importance of checking transmission schedules before such promotions.
Thank you again for getting in touch and allowing us to investigate, respond and apologise for any annoyance caused by the trail.'
Kind Regards

It's good that they responded EFFT, but I think in this day and age with the technology at hand and the systems and processes in place it's almost a school boy error on their part.

The BBC are an experienced and long producer of sports programmes, why did they not just run a generic F1 advert without any current information. This trailer could be pre prepared and checked before transmission instead of relying on a team already working on a current sporting event!!

I'm probably more annoyed than I should be as it happened to me too on another occasion. How are you with the response?

Enthusiastic Contrafibularities

Take it with a pinch of salt really. It comes across as a made up excuse. If they've got someone in their organisation making boobs like this, then they ought to be seriously considering that person's future in their present roll.

As you say, it's a very basic error. Are they really expecting me to believe that 'The Wibledon Team' independently  compile the trailers, shown during Wimbledon coverage, for future programmes?
