All this talk by 'experts' like Phil Thompson saying Real Madrid are poor defensively. I've watched them quite a lot and Nou Camp aside I've seen absolutely no evidence that they are poor defensively. Keeper is good, Ramos is good, the 2 portugese CB's are good, Marcelo is very attacking but can still defend. Diarra, Alonso and Khedira give good protection.
I bet the last time Phil Thompson watched them was when Liverpool smashed them at Anfield a few seasons ago

Bridge had a good game today against Spurs... was quite surprised actually. He managed to keep Lennon quiet, Spurs have alot of pace and he defended well. Kolarov is great going forward, but defensively has been poor.

If Wayne can play like that week in week out, I would actually be tempted to give me another shot next season. Will see if it was just a "one off" though.

Landon Donovan has gone up in my estimation

@ watched it live, so bummed for you buddy. No place for a tackle like that in football...I hope he gets punished accordingly

Note to self: next time you make a comment about a Man United player, be prepared for scathing, venomous comments from their fans.

Fergies influence?

Who knows? He might have still been in the running but I guess he'll never know now. He was a crap captain anyway.

He's a great captain but unfortunately a complete idiot too. He'll keep the captaincy till he does Capello's missus

I think it's a good decision to reinstate Terry. Ferdinand has no right to complain when he's only been fit enough to actually do his job as captain twice in 12 months (a 12 months that included a major tournament).

And then when you consider the other candidates, you realise how stupid it is to dismiss someone for non-footballing matters, because they've all done worse...

That ref in the Scottish game is brave - awards a pen and then retracts it?? I'm only listening to the radio but they were all  considering what's gone on up there with refs and these two teams in the last year or so.

Sunderland paid and then some for the luck they had with the beach ball goal last season. All the injuries, player sent off and the ref giving a pen that was a free kick. I'd be livid if I was a deckchair.

I wonder if Blue Mancs will park the bus against Chelsea this afternoon. I think they will, just like they did against us. Shocking way to play when you consider the excellent players they have who are capable of so much more

Tevez is out for City so they'll almost definitely be parking an enormous bus in front of their goal.

Lampard should be captain in my opinion. Doesn't seem to get into trouble off the field, doesn't seem to be part of the Cashley JT clown brigade on nights out at 7 in the morning, doesn't shag team mates girlfriends as far as I know, doesn't go around thumping people, doesn't fail to turn up for drugs tests, hasn't really had long spells out injured during his career.

Just watched it back several times - the ref did the right thing

I'm back home! They've put the games on the wrong way round-I really don't give a flyer about these two teams. Though I do agree that John Terry makes the best England Captain. Capellini should never have sacked him. (my phone selected that name, I like it) am I wrong in thinking that Lampard insulted some yanks after 11/9 or appeared in home movies or summat?

I was beginning to think that City would hold out for a point. However, after that wonderful Luiz goal the game was over imo; regardless of Mancini's seemingly knee-jerk reaction to try and change his system, and without the excellent solo goal late on from Ramires.

I'm now hopeful of a Top 3 finish for Chelsea.
