A bit of both really. I don't think Squillaci is cut out for the PL tbh Veggie, maybe the pace of the PL is something he isn't used to or he just needs some more time?

Chris Samba I thought would be a good option for you lot, he's phyiscal, chips in with the goals and is still looking for the exit at Blackburn but they've offered him a new deal, no word if he's decided to stay or not so far...

On the Torres saga, as disappointed as I am, I haven't berated him or slagged him... (I'm not a United fan thank you very much, Re Rooney; holding up signs about him one week chanting his name the next

I am keeping the faith and hope fellow Kopites are too, if Torres leaves he won't be booed facing us, but seriously why in under God would he want to go to Chelsea of all teams (no offence prom ) They are in a battle for the top 4, they have half a squad the wrong side of 30 (Lampard, Malouda, Drogba, Terry, Anelka, A Cole)

Wonder if Torres does go will Phil Mitchell and the lads be shouting him on...

i've been following the torres will he won't he go saga on a liverpool fan forum all weekend......the general opinion on there from about 90% of fans is that torres .should he sign for chelsea will be booed to hell and back next sunday and on his return to anfield........some are even saying they hope jamie carragher breaks his legs.....some want more than that and for someone to give him a career ending injury........
SS
i can understand they'd boo him cs.and i understand they're hacked off if he leaves......the other stuff though......waaaaaaaaaaaaaay out of line..

some on there are complaining about us putting in a bid in the first place.....strange they don't seem to realise they've done exactly the same with adam from blackpool...

interesting point that is raised over and over again on there though is that something is going on behind the scenes that has made torres decide he wants to go.....all sorts of rumours flying around.......

I have been following RAWK religiously for 2 days and the general consensus is mass disappointment from fans, some saying if he doesn't want to stay then he can go and invest the money back into LFC. What you have said is what a small minority of tossers are saying, fickle fans. The majority of the Kop faithful are almost in mourning. None of him want to get injured but they are at the point of almost accepting it as a done deal in that they can do no more.

My idea scenario is that he stays, we go on the rest of the season and Torres regains the form of 2 seasons back, Luis Suarez is a hit and we get in the top 4 knocking Chelsea out..Torres will then count his blessing...I can dream can't I?! UI can't wait until 11pm tomorrow night til this is all over...

I don't blame Chelsea they are looking out for their own interests which is understandable, only thing that smells is the rumours that Chelsea have 'tapped' Torres (eg promising him things if he moves etc) which isn't allowed as far as I know.

i think torres has wanted to go for sometime tbh r.r.....he may have said all the right things.....but i think it's widely accepted he's wanted away from liverpool for a while...

i can't say if we've tapped him or not...it does go on..it'd be foolish to suggest otherwise......

he apparently trained alone at melwood this afternoon.........and for all the speculation.....as far as i've read/seen officially..we put a bid in and it was refused.....torres handed in a written transfer request...it was refused.........the rest seems to be pure media speculation...

the forum i'm reading the majority of fans are saying even if he does stay they'll view him as a traitor for handing in a transfer request anyway.....

i think he's gone.....whether it's now or in the summer.....or whether it's to us or someone else..i think his days as a liverpool player are nearly over

What do CFC fans think about it? Also how do you think he will realistically fit in with Drogba
I would much rather Chelsea had made a deal for David Luiz of Benfica work. IMO the need for another centre back is greater right now than that of another striker - the squad was shown up during October as embarrassingly weak when neither Terry or Alex were available.
Cold Sweat
you make a good point cs...........but i guess the likes of torres don't come up for grabs everyday.....if there's an inkling he wants to come i'm not surprised we tabled a bid...

i have to say i'm agreeing with what the pool fans are saying on that forum......this hasn't just come about in the last few days.....something's gone on........i know we were interested in him last summer but nothing came of it.

i agree though...our defence needs sorting for sure

So, a home game with Reading if we get past Everton. I still can't believe we were in the draw. Cech kept us in it the whole game. We were bloody abysmal in the second half and Everton really should have taken advantage of it. And yeah, Drogba back to whingeing diving tart again falling all over the place. I hate it. But like I said before, that's what he does when he has a bad game. Dunno why.

River Rock I reckon if Torres comes to us it will be because we won the double last year and he will have been told we are spending big time to build the team up again. I was amazed to see Roman opening his wallet again so any promises of spending to improve won't be false as they were when Liverpool made him the same promises. Whether Torres alone is enough to revitalise our team I really don't know. We looked out of sorts again against Everton. Time will tell and all that.

If he goes I don't believe it to be for less than Β£50m
They want a player to replace him. Anelka and Drogba could both do that but really, why would Liverpool be asking for Anelka who's probably playing his last season for Chelsea where he will be useful? Bizarre. He's not worth 50 mil on his own so that may be the reason no deal can be made.
