I think Newcastle will have quite a job hanging onto Carroll next summer, the guy is class... seems to always win the ball in the air aswell which is something most sides desperately need (especially us as we have not scored one headed goal). I can't see us sticking in a bid for him though, hear things about us going for Torres or Dzeko but no idea why we would want Torres who is currently playing sh*te. We certainly need someone to partner Tevez up front, RSC & Adebayor will likely be off soon and Balotelli is one of those players that show up one week and then the week after go missing. Hopefully Jo will just leave aswell... useless tw*t

Think it will be busy in the january and summer transfer window for us with players going out. You would think we were a bloody charity...

In fairness to Torres though Meaty he aint getting much service into him at the mo is he? He looks really dispirited and down.

Andy Carroll's future career and success, like Jack Wilshere, will depend a lot on the behaviour off the pitch. Both have talent to spare but an unfortunate knack of making headlines for the wrong reasons.

So it seems The Fat Waiter (Benitez) is in talks with Inter Milan to decide whether he stays or goes. His agent says Benitez wants four or five new players to strengthen the team. This is the same team that won everything in sight including the CL last season under Jose Mourinho. Presumably they've all forgotten how to play football since last year.

As Rafa would say: hunbeleebabble.

One would love Carroll to stay in the NE in a successful team rather than move to Lancashire or that London.
I don't really care where he goes as long as he stays in England. I have a feeling the English team are going to be relying on him somewhere down the line. I'd rather he stayed at Newcastle seeing as how they gave him his big chance but that's just the old footballing romantic in me, I know it doesn't work like that anymore

I mean that he may be influenced in the same way!

If the tabloids are to be believed it doesn't take a whole lot to influence him. There's usually a grain of truth amongst all the lies they publish (no smoke without fire and all that). He's a great prospect but not that great in the larger scheme of things. I mean he ain't a Gazza. I'd just like to see a good English striker step up to the plate but there's every sign he'll be his own worst enemy already, a sort of Gazza without the same kind of talent.

I seriously think modern footballers just need an officially club appointed 'mum' to clip them round the year from time to time.

I see Mario has taken a pop at few players (Fabregas, VDV, Wilshere and Rooney)

No way is he better than either Fabregas or VDV and its not the best time to make those comments as it was only just over a month ago we got hammered against Arsenal on our own turf, though he may have a case against Rooney and Wilshere. Extremely talented player, but carries a piss poor attitude with him. Theres abit of a divide amongst the fans aswell, some like him and some don't.

"I couldnt care less if it was us... trophies are what matter, all those statistics stuff I don't buy into. If I said to a friend "Yeah well we are top of the Uefa Club Rankings" they would laugh at me and tell me to come back when we have actually won some silverware. Anyway, isnt it now Barcelona at the top with 136.95?"

You're correct, it is trophies that matter which is why a lot of Liverpool fans would like Rafa back. Presently under Hodgson a Champions League Cup and an FA Cup make Rafa's reign look like a golden age.

Hodgson has taken a side which sent eleven players to the world cup and delivered them mid table mediocrity - at least Rafa made us dream.

In response to the other poster I get the feeling the Inter team are somewhat tired after there recent accomplishments and could do with and additional influx of younger players in key areas if they are to win another treble, not a lot to ask for really is it ?

No probs Prom - it's the truth after all.

I do think that Messi has awesome skills though, some of the stuff he can do is like a playstation player. But he'll have to do it at club and country level consistently to be regarded as one of the true greats imo.

As for Ballotelli (however he spells it) Jack Wilshere tweeted about what he'd said and showed pure class. Ballotelli would do well to show as much grace as that.

What Jack tweeted:

`I would just like to say how honoured I am to have got second place!and would like to congratulate Mario Balotelli on winning it even if he doesn`t know who I am!He`s a top player`
