West Bromwich Albion 3 - 1 Arsenal....

All I heard all day yesterday in the media was...Arsenal, Wenger, Arsenal, Wenger...

The media seemed to have forgotten that there was two teams in that game. Hardly a mention for the Baggies and Tony Pulis.

It seems such a shame that a club that has done so much with so little resource wise, doesn't get the praise it truly deserves........

Cheers GJ.

Sheffield Wednesday 2 - 1 Newcastle United

I would not have gone into the stadium expecting to come out with three points, let alone doing the double over Newcastle!

Despite being quite inconsistent of late , today we showed the kind of performance we saw often last season. That game could have easily been 4-2. I was always on edge that NU would carve out enough quality chances to equalise, but we managed to see the game out.

Have to say that after seeing the replay Bannan was lucky to be on the pitch. I bet Fletcher scoring did not go down too well with the Newcastle fans. That's 3 in 2 now for Fletch. Hooper is looking useful in the side, especially that lost cause ball today which nearly resulted in a goal. Lees back in the side is a big bonus and Forestieri is back on the bench from injury. If we make the play-offs we could have some welcome players returning to the side.

I'm going to nail my colours to the mast. Really sorry Cold Sweat I am going to go with Chelsea for the win. Usually the kiss of death for a team!

My forecast (for what it's worth) 2-1.

@Cold Sweat - I presume you are there at Wem-ber-lee.

Thanks a bunch!

No I watched it in a pub - disappointing game but some fine IPA!

Indeed - and it was a fantastic season overall for Chelsea.

Ah! Bless you EC for finding the thread. I had no idea with m'phone.

We beat Augsburg 2-1 this afternoon.

I am so looking forward to this season. I've already bought rail tickets for the Forest and Fulham games - hope I get tickets. We'll be driving to Bolton. I now need to buy the train tickets for Barnsley and Reading. Those are all before the end of October and then nothing until December 23rd - Sheffield Wednesday! I doubt very much it will take place on the Saturday at 3pm but who knows? If it isn't I will book in somewhere.

Hi GJ

Hope you had a good break. I can see you are raring to go for the new season. Sounds like it is going to cost you a pretty penny this season. This is a strong division this year, you only have to look at the recent Premier League teams that are still here!

As you quite rightly say, who knows where the fixtures will end up, I think we have already had three of our games moved for TV !!!

December 23rd - would have been nicer if it were in September.

Bought a ticket for the Wednesday v Rangers friendly game on Sunday. We have given Rangers the North stand and it looks like they have sold 7000 tickets.

@Former Member

Just had to google the result EC - that's how up to date I am. Blimey, beaten 2 - 0 by Rangers  -  hope it was mainly you're B team or you're in for a nightmare season

Hope all's going well in Steel City

Hi Velvet

Hope you are good.

As you would expect, both sides made many changes throughout the game. It did make me wonder what progress close season has made, but we are not a bad side.

The Rangers fans were in full song throughout - kept our lot quite! Very friendly friendly, lots of mutual respect and shirt swapping and scarf swapping.

Managed to check out the Cleveland police.

Everything is fine down here thanks, apart from this stinking cold that has laid me up during my weeks leave last week and still hanging on to me this week. !!!

In fact , I'm getting an early night tonight.

I had concerns over the summer given our lack of signings and our rather puzzling inability to move on the players no longer needed.

These concerns came into sharp focus after losing our opener and inviting QPR to dominate and score during the first half on Saturday.

We came out with a lot more vigour in the second half and scored, also creating enough chances to go ahead.

Losing two players in the first half did not help, but still the performance left plenty of questions.

Prediction:

1. Fernando Forestieri will be sold in the coming weeks. Was left out of the squad on Saturday following a training ground bust up with Sam Winnall.

2. Sheffield Wednesday will finish mid-table following a very indifferent season.

3. Carlos Carvalhal will unfortunately lose his job sometime in Sept/Oct.

I'll give you a wave EC! I have to change at Sheffield before I continue to Nottingham. Unfortunately the business last week took place outside our family stand so a lot of children were caught up in the riot. I know a couple of families who witnessed it all. The South Yorkshire fans wisely avoided attacking our North and South stands! It's good to get the Forest game out of the way early since it really is one of the worst venues.
