Cardiff City 2 - Sheffield Wednesday 2

WOW! I was listening to this and we were 2-0 down at halftime. Second half we could have won it. Such a shame as it would have really cemented our current decent form and position in the league.

A bit lucky by all accounts

If you call two excellent goals and sustained pressure luck, then yep, we were pretty lucky.

Interesting game tomorrow (Saturday) between 1st place, the mighty 'Boro, and 2nd place, unbeaten Brighton.

Alas! Due to Sky TV and their 12:15 KO I can't get there in time so ironically I will have to watch on Sky TV.

Sorry to hear that GJ, I know you like you away trips.

The Evil Empire that is Sky strikes back at the football fan! See what I did there?

We have a Sunday home fixture against Wolves. Our form is starting to dip and I feel we may be starting that slow slide into mid table.

Fingers crossed that Norwich can get a result against Manure today.

I should predict or wish Norwich's results more often!

Did you have a little wager on the result?

No Moonie, I'm not a gambler of any sort.

I do hope Carnelian did as it will make his weekend.

Sheffield Wednesday 4 - Wolves 1

After a dodgy early period where we looked worse than w**k we got the equalising penalty and from that point we got better and better and could have ended up beating them by 6 or 7 if we had taken our chances.

I'm not expecting promotion this season but a strong season with  a view to challenging to get into the Premier League next season would be good.

Wolves are poor this season.

I know it always changes in the championship and a couple of clubs will come with a late surge - but the top 5 at this time do look particularly powerful.

Cold Sweat

What a funny season this is.  Fantastic result for Norwich against Man U yesterday but what is happening in the prem this season?  Leicester sweeping all before them.  Watford hammering Liverpool, Bournemouth beating Man U also and Chelsea where they are.  Who'd have predicted this premier league.  Many expected Chelsea to walk it.

Sheffield Wednesday   3

V

Birmingham City   0

After much early probing and prodding of the Birmingham defence and just at the point where I was thinking we would go into the break all even Fernando Forestieri popped up with a third goal in two games. To make things even better Keiran Lee took full advantage of a cleared ball coming back to him deep in the Birmingham defence, slotting it home for 2-0. After the break Forestieri made it four goals in two games on 48 mins and pretty much secured the points. Good professional display from the Owls and a great Boxing Day treat for me.

Well i didn't see that result coming!

Which one Arsenal or Liverpuddle ?

Lol

I heard at least one pundit this week suggest Arsenal would take all 9 points available to them over xmas/new year!

My colleague (an Arsenal fan) will be less than impressed as I keep telling him, if there was ever a Premiership title to go get, this would be it.

Apart from Leicester none of the big teams seem to be able to put a consistent run together. If they could they might have it in the bag by the beginning of Feb.

Big game tomorrow EC. The expert Ian Holloway is predicting a 2-1 win to yourselves. I hope he's wrong but nothing surprises me in this division!

I suspect Ian Holloway does not see 'Wednesday' that often. We tend to start the games pretty slowly, conceding and then have to go about chasing the game until we achieve a draw (away from home). We played on Boxing Day and the manager says that we probably won't be as fresh as we would have been if it were next Saturday. He rested Lucas Joao and we have a couple of knocks. But should be able to put out an attacking side.

Given how well you guys are playing, I think you should be pretty comfortable in getting a win.

All I hope is we put up a strong showing and you get an entertaining game GJ.

Enjoy - I will be listening to it on the radiogramme.

On balance I think you deserved a draw. However we have a decent defence and they seemed to cope with your superior second half performance.

I'm sure you can at least get to Wembley this year!

I almost predicted the game in my earlier post GJ  Except this time we did not get back into it, but again I knew your defence was pretty hot at the moment.

I think we are very similar to you last season. I will be happy for a promotion push next season.

I'm very happy with the way things have gone so far.

BTW how was our support?

Not as many as usual - I think about 1800. Can't blame them though since visiting us must be the same as going to Wigan, Reading or even Man City's carp outlying ground.

However they gave great support as always.

I know the three blokes next to me went as they always do. I tried my best to get some of my 'Wednesday' colleagues to go as a group outing, but one left and the others were pre-occupied with Xmas!

I would say maybe next year, but you will be in a different division

Good to hear they were in fine voice.

The 3rd Round of the FA Cup is the most depressing fixture of the season.  As I've written on this forum for many seasons, I F**** HATE THE FA CUP with a passion!  Why, because Norwich are a perennial bye into the 4th round for anyone who's drawn against them.  The record in the competition is a *****g disgrace and one a League Two side would be ashamed of.

I'd like Norwich to seriously consider not entering the FA Cup next season because they never turn up.

How's this for a record of shame.

1997 Leicester City (4th round)

1998 Grimsby (3rd round) out in first match played

1999 Sheff W (3rd round) out in first match played

2000 Cov City (3rd round)  out in first match played

2001 Sheff (3rd round again) out in first match played

2002 Chelsea (3rd round) ditto

2003 Southampton (5th round) !!!!

2004 Everton (3rd round) back to business as usual out in first match played

2005 West Ham (3rd Round) ditto

2006 West Ham (again) (3rd Round) ditto

2007 Chelsea (again) (3rd round) ditto - out in first match played

2008 Bury (league two at the time) 3rd round - out in first match played

2009 Charlton (3rd round) ditto - out in first match played

2010 Carlisle (2nd Round - but thrashed non-league Paulton Rovers in round 1!) out in first match against league opposition

2011 Leyton Orient (3rd round) - first match in competition

2012 Leicester City (5th round - then a division below)

2013 Luton Town (conference club/Norwich Prem League) - 3rd round  - first match in competition

2014 Fulham (3rd round- first match in competition)

2015 Preston NE (3rd round- first match in competition )

2016 Man City (3rd round - first match in competition)

A bit boring for a non-Norwich fan, but I doubt there's many (or any) clubs in the football league who've been so spectacularly shit in the FA Cup!

I bet your club can't match Norwich's pathetic record in the FA Cup!
