Sheffield Wednesday 3 - Preston North End 1

A few complaints despite the scoreline. I hate how we get to 70 mins and then decide to sit back and defend so deep. We were on top and what always happens, the opposition score a goal and then we are hanging on to a one goal lead!

At least this time Lewis McGugan struck the ball from about the halfway line to score the third just before the end and send the crowd wild.

At times I feel like we could go on and challenge for promotion at other times I feel we may squander leads and get dragged into a dogfight at the foot of the table.

No easy games in this division and Hull up next.

I could not believe the scoreline. I'm always expecting Chelsea to get into gear and charge up the table.

I think i heard that goals against is already more than Mourinho conceded during his first title winning season with Chelsea. It looks like too many key players are simply not performing.

It's rather baffling to an outsider as usually even on a bad run top teams seems to have the players to grind out the odd result that keeps them in the top half. Not being in the position of watching any of the games it's hard to have a considered view but it does seem like it's been a bit rocky the early part of the season not just on field, I'm thinking of the club doctor issues, maybe it's a perfect storm of bad events that's contributed to the current form.

I’m not convinced the Mourinho/Doctor bust up is a main cause of the dreadful form. Chelsea looked β€œoff” from the community shield – before the bust-up and despite the comfortable title win last season – the football being played wasn’t great from about Feb onward. It looks like a group of talented individuals on the field but lacking in fluidity and confidence

Some in the German football media laugh at the top English clubs and how they focus on bringing in new players at insane prices above focusing on the fundamentals of infrastructure, tactics and development.

On a positive note (but not for Villa) i can watch MOTD tonight without wanting to hide behind the sofa!

 Enjoy MOTD CS.

Gotta feel for Carnelian though, I've felt that pain.

Got to say that was utter cack.  Newcastle weren't particularly good but  carved up Norwich's woeful defence and midfield on the counter attack every time.

Once they realised how wide open Norwich were to the counter attack, they just bided their time, soaked up the Norwich pressure and waited for Norwich to lose the ball.  It was utterly dreadful.  How Norwich could pass the ball so well and have so much possession and then undo all their work being so tactically naive in defence is beyond me.

It's nice to see a positive attacking, never-say-die side and god knows, they were as dull as watching paint dry under Hughton's negative, defensive tactics, but you can't play like that and expect not to get hammered even in League Two.

The scoreline flattered Newcastle in some ways but in others it was fair considering how inept Norwich were in defence.  Ruddy had a shocking game and needs to be part of a shake up.

Just been reading about Leeds' latest managerial casualty - Cellino seriously needs to take a look at himself, changing managers every twelve weeks does not work.

Although as it's Leeds I am having a bit of a chuckle.

Would seem he has decided that the ex-Rotherham manager Steve Evans is the man to take them up to Christmas where I don't doubt another new face will be installed.

This may have been the game where Alex Neil (Norwich's manager for those not familiar with the Prem's lesser clubs) was found out.  Great to have a manager who promotes attacking football, after the dreariness of Hughton's time and Norwich's tendency to sit deep, but laying the goal wide open like that was suicidal.
