GJ, that's not the half of it. He has hiked the price for the home fans to stupid levels - he must think Sheffield is a suburb of Kensington & Chelsea.

One chap came on the radio to complain that a ticket for his 4 year old son's first ever game was Β£17 !!!!!!!  Crazy.

I see a backlash at some point. The crowd was down on what it would have been. Day ticket prices are Β£40+, some paying over Β£50 I'm hearing anecdotally.

I noticed a season ticket purchased now that the season has started is over Β£500. I paid around Β£380 for mine back in March.

As long as the team seems to be doing well on the field I think the price of tickets will not be such an issue for most, but as soon as it goes the other way I can see attendances falling dramatically.

He gave away a brand new BMW to a fan on Saturday (we were all give a lottery ticket on entry). Big whoop, so one fan is happy.

I was under the impression that home/away legs were pretty much on a par price wise - I wonder if Chasiri has decided to hike up prices for away fans? Another great move, less away fans means less atmosphere

Anyway GJ I see your in the middle of your game as I write, hope you are enjoying it.

I've seen better. I can't blame opposing teams for having a cluttered defence! As Man City discovered last season, give us room and we'll torture you.

I have my rail tickets for the Sheffield game and we are all wondering if we will ever win there before we depart this earth.

As usual those of us who think the beer to be as important as the game will meet at the Tap. I will try not to fall over in the tram this time.

Hi GJ,

I presume you will be en route by now. It's a little overcast  (how I like to watch football).

You will be able to marvel out our new hybrid pitch and our new scoreboard today.

Apparently Β£33 is our cheapest ticket for home fans and we have to sell away fans tickets at the same price.

Who knows what we will be like today, so far I think we have flattered to deceive, but Mattias' goal against Dirty Leeds was pretty special.

Looks like we picked up a new defender yesterday from Norwich.

As ever, enjoy the beer and Sheffield. I may see you on the Supertram - I will be the one in a trench coat and trilby.

 Update***

Just sat having a coffee in the Peace Gardens and a chunk of the Fulham squad have walked in. They must be having a pre match caffeine boost before heading off to Rotherham.

I will be getting off the Supertram at the Leppings Lane end so will walk past. I will be the one in the Sheffield Wednesday home strip circa 1990.

Well done GJ

Definitely the better team won today.

We were woeful in the first half and apart from the first 10 minutes in the second we kinda fell back into the pattern of the first half.

Changing to a 4-4-2 formation helped, but you adapted to the change and delivered the killer blows (almost identical).

That is about as bad a performance as the Reading one, I don't think we deserved anything from that game and the scoreline could have been higher IMO. At 1-1 I bet you thought "oh no, not again"

We have no bite in midfield and nothing up front with a rather casual defence. Although I don't think we are far from a top half club, the signing of Foristieri (sp) and a reported few more should plug the holes.

Hope you did not overdo the beer.

A very good day out enjoyed by all. Though to be fair we always enjoy an away day, win or lose.

That Riverside CafΓ© was a cracking find. We were surprised to find somewhere that good so close to the ground.

Ouch! hope the head has recovered.

Yes, the Riverside CafΓ© always seems quite full when I pass by, but looks a nice venue. Will have to try it out on a non match day.

At first I thought you were in the Riverside pub on Hillsborough corner.

Just realised, there is a little link there with your stadium name.

Entre nous, a bit more embarrassing info for you. We were vaguely split into two separate generational groups; us oldsters and our kids.
Before my train left I was in The Tap sat sitting with I kid you not, a High Court Judge and his equally learned wife, a journalist, and a Headmistress, whilst m'son  was outside vaping with his pals.
Using your skill and judgement can you guess who ended up with a table full of beer and Pinot Grigio in his lap?

I spent quite a while in the gents holding m'trousers under the Dyson dryer. Bugger!

I'm not laughing at you, but a story that comes to mind. I had a drink with a friend in The Tap not long after it opened. I decided to chance my arm and have a pint of black lager, yes, sounds awful doesn't it. Well two sips into the pint and my friend also decided to upend the table!!!

I too spent a good amount of time trying to dry a pair of jeans with a toilet drier. The worst thing is that the smell followed me round all night.

Not surprised.

It's been said we're still carrying mental baggage from last season. FFS!

I was not gloating Sprout , I was a bit surprised we managed it as it's pretty much always tough against a Premier team even ones which are not firing on all cylinders.

Even more surprising as we made 10 changes.

At home to Arsenal in the next round. Will have to get a ticket even though it's on the tellybox.

The BBC article has now been updated and now reads:

Swiss prosecutors have opened a criminal investigation into Sepp Blatter, the head of the world football body Fifa.

The attorney general's office said he was being investigated "on suspicion of criminal mismanagement as well as - alternatively - on suspicion of misappropriation".

It said Mr Blatter was currently being questioned.

Earlier, Fifa cancelled a press conference at its Zurich headquarters.

The Swiss attorney general's office said the investigation surrounds a TV rights deal Mr Blatter signed with former Caribbean football chief Jack Warner in 2005.

Mr Blatter is also suspected of "a disloyal payment" in 2011 to UEFA president Michel Platini, the statement said.

Fifa said it was co-operating with the Swiss attorney general and had complied with its requests for information.

"We will continue this level of co-operation throughout the investigation," it said.

El Loro

Brentford 1 - Sheffield Wednesday 2

Despite Brentford going down to 10 men and then we go 1-0 up, we could not seem to get going and put the game to bed.

As has probably happened to so many teams before, Brentford equalise and we go down to 10 men - it all seemed a bit grim, the home-side definitely in the ascendency.

But out of the blue Lucas JoΓ£o is presented with the ball, screams forward with a one on one, scoring the winning goal on 90 mins.

Did we deserve the win, probably not going by the radio commentary, am I grateful for the winner - damn right.

Could do without the sweat at the end!
