Rejoice! That segment involving Nani, throwing himself to the ground, handling the ball, pretending that Gomez tried to assault him to death, cheating (or using cunning as the apologists term it) and unsportingly kicking the ball in the net. We have our new Ronaldo and I can only hope that he is still playing in a few years time when we return to the higher level so that we may heap foul abuse on him. It's what makes a saturday afternoon. I know we don't have any United supporters on here but I bet the ones who go are a little embarrassed!
Don't worry, that lad won't last 5 mins in the manchester derby.

Im hoping for a second round of this...

It's no secret that I don't like Newcastle United FC, but I do like Chris Hughton as a manager and hope that Newcastle don't do what they've done in the past and make knee jerk decisions to get rid of managers so that they can replace them with a 'messiah' like Kevin 'the quitter' Keegan or SHEARAH SHEARAH SHEARAH!
I know a lot of Newcastle fans and for every sensible fan there seems to be a total numbskull fan who doesn't think Hughton is the right man for the job and thinks they should be in the Champions League places by now.

Carlos Tevez is almost certainly out of next week’s Manchester derby after suffering a setback in his recovery from a thigh injury.

Tevez was due back in Manchester yesterday after City boss Roberto Mancini had given him permission to return home to Argentina to undergo treatment and see his family.

But the doctor treating Tevez back in Buenos Aires for the blood clot on the striker’s thigh said it was too dangerous for Tevez to board the 12-hour flight back to Manchester.

The situation is a huge embarrassment to Mancini, who let Tevez return home on the proviso he returned by Monday to be treated by City’s medical staff at the club’s Carrington training complex.

Bale just ripped Inter apart... not sure if they can hold onto him though.
He has a couple of decent games and suddenly he's the white Pele . He's been pants in the league the last two games. Also, Inter have gone from having the best manager in the world to having one of the worst. They'll win nothing this year. Bale = good but not great imho.

He's probably make them finish 5th in Serie A, but somehow win the Champions League, beating Real Madrid in the Semi Final with a goal that Mourinho says didn't cross the line (maybe it didn't).... then they'll face Chelsea in the final.... Chelsea will go 3-0 up at half time, Ancelotti will think the cup is theirs, then Benitez will make an inspired half time change bringing Dejan Stankovic on, then Inter will score 3 goals to make it 3-3, then win on pens.

You just know it

It won't let me copy and paste for some reason, but did anyone see the SAF article "SIR ALEX FERGUSON still insists the Champions League is the best tournament in the world and yesterday likened the World Cup to a trip to the dentist!"

What utter utter rubbish.
I can think of two competitions and at least three national leagues that are better than the so-called champions league.

I'd say he's had a brilliant 2010. Helped Tottenham finally reach the C/L, and is doing a fine job in trying to get them into the knock out stage, I'm not sure about the Man U fixutre because I've only seen the H/L , but I was in the ground for the Everton game, I don't remember him being pants,

At the end of the day its all about opinions Joe. After the last few world cups I happen to agree with him. Years ago I used to love the FA cup, but that's lost some magic over the years too.

Hiya Rzb  Well, you must be a happy bunny today
What a cracking little player Bale is turning into. His speed was diluted at little at Old Trafford when Rafael was marking him, kept pushing him onto his right foot, but what great progress he's made, you must be made up.

Hiya Monkey. Howz you,
We seem to be saving it for the C/L,
I think the player we bought originally was the Bale of today rather than 2 years ago, He has had some stinking games for us and what with injuries, and changes of management, it never seem to be happening, I'm sure he was Liverpool bound at one stage, It was the African Nations Cup this January that finally opened the door for him with players going off,
United quietly going about their C/L business as per,

I'm pretty good, tah.
He's certainly benefited from Arry being at the club, the whole team has. Can't argue with the progress he's made.

Shame about the goal debacle during our match with you. Still not sure who to blame entirely, but I can understand that Spurs fans would be angry, I'd of been the same. That lino, Simon Beck was the same lino who missed Drogba's offside last season, you know the one where he was two yards offside. We would of won the league had he not messed up. Fair to say I'm not a fan of his, don't suppose you are now either eh.

Indeed! I've been a football customer (as they say nowadays) since 1963. The FA Cup doesn't have it anymore, the League/Carling/Milk Cup even less so. The 2006 World Cup was the best tournament ever IMO, and I enjoyed this years too. I also like the European nations whatever it's called now. The Champions League is just a long, drawn out, advertising festival. Maybe if they just kept it to the Champion teams and played it over a couple of weeks it might work.

I've always thought it odd to have teams in the Champions League who aren't actually champions of anything. They should call it the European League and it would work. I still love the competition though, even the group stages. It gives 'lesser' European teams a chance to play the best club teams in Europe.

I love the world cup too. Too many people are becoming obsessed with foreign stars playing for their domestic club (I'm not suggesting you're one of them, it just seems to be the trend) and having less time for players representing their own country on the world's biggest footballing stage.

In other news, Chelsea 4-1 I'll take that ta very much. Unlucky Arsenal but they should still have no trouble getting through to the last 16. I hope all 4 English teams get that far (Rangers are pretty much out of it now).

Well I think and have thought for a good few years that the Champions League Group Phase is wank. So predictable, just boring. Those few years where they had 2 group stages, oh my god how crap was that!
I know they have the groups because more games = more money etc, so I understand why from that point of view. But for entertaining matches, it would be much better if it was knockout right from the beginning and the lesser teams would still get their chance to play the big boys.
I only get interested really when it gets to the last 16.
