I think that is Wednesday summed up in a game. We are very inconsistent, beat a team like Huddersfield quite convincingly on the Saturday only to put in a poor first half in the cup game. We had a decent first 15 mins after the break, grab an equaliser and instead of piling on the pressure we go and concede. We did create chances and could have got a draw if we had taken them. But in a way I am not too concerned as Sheffield United have got some good form in the cup and seem tobe doing the same in the league, so it may have been a right old battle and I would rather we keep pushing in the league.

It was bitterly cold (I sat in an unfamiliar spot as I paid on the gate). Good crowd though, the announcer said the attendance was somwhere near 25,000.

Yes, I will take a photo. Wear something bright so you stand out... oh and a white carnation in your lapel.

We have had some decent weather over the last few days. Good long spells of sunshine and now that it's not going dark until around 6pm it's feeling somewhat better.

Michael Palin is a funny one, he always says he supports both teams, whereas some of the others actually support just the one team.

Which Red Lion did you visit ?

A funny old game, I really thought it was going to be 0-0. We were not very good in the first half and managed to be better in the second.

Our keeper admitted on the radio that the ball had crossed the line from the Butterfield shot. I will have to watch the TV tonight to see if our penalty shout was a good one or not (the one on Hutchinson, not the handball).

Anyway, the result aside I hope you and your friends had a good day (I see from other posts you enjoyed a pint or two - did you try some of the Thornbridge brewery offerings?).

On the A61.... The pub we normally visit was closed, however we came upon The Red Lion a few hundred yards further along. They had Falmers (?) blond and Hobgoblin!
Apart from the goal we scored I thought we were pretty poor and once again The Owls were up for it.
I had backed 0-0 and increasingly towards the 80th minute I wondered why I hadn't put more money on. How naΓ―ve am I?
Still lots of material for my next article!

May I refer you to my previous comment that the Premiership is full of tarts.
I was not the designated driver today and since the driver chose the radio station I had to listen to R5 all the way back which was largely taken up with the Pardew yarn. What utter, utter bolleaux. The best part of two hours of listening to people's head butt anecdotes. They even managed to drag the Shearer/ Lennon business into it.
Of course in my day they didn't have hundred bags of sand fines or bans. They would have shook hands, had a beer and a tab together, and then spit roasted a prostitute.

I should imagine.

That would have nothing to do with getting a hatrick and securing three points for Chelsea would it?

His finishing looked clinical - and that is the one area in which i think Liverpool and Man City are both currently better than Chelsea.

Not seen any of the Sunday PL games yet but that doesn't sound good for you!

Not good at all.  I'd say that the only side who are worse than Norwich are Palace.  Still, a clear out in summer is needed regardless.  Forced or not.
