Aggresive player...one of the best defensive midfielders in the premier league easily. Works his f*cking arse off on the field.

There was nothing even wrong with the tackle he made on Ben-Arfa, he got the ball in the tackle... unfortunatly it was his trailing leg that caught him.

F*ck knows what the "tackle" on Alonso was all about... I suppose he is spanish.

I didnt see the knob-head fans out in numbers calling for Gerrard to be banned when he deliberatly elbowed Michael Brown in the head... or when Shearer booted Neil Lennon in the face... or Danny Guthries tackle on Craig Fagan.

That was seriously shite...

I thought Lescott and Ferdinand were the only decent players...

Barry kept giving the ball away and G.Johnson didnt seem to do much, how the hell Rooney keeps getting picked is beyond me aswell.

What annoyed me most though... is that De Jong catches a player with his trailing leg causing outrage across europe and threats about taking him to court.

Rooney runs over 30 yards back to make a tackle with no intention of going for the ball and went straight for the players legs... and the crowd cheer and shout "Rooney...Rooney...Rooney"

You've got to be joking it was a shocking tackle. Even the Holland manager dropped him from the squad and said someone had to have a word with him about his attitude. A 6 match ban would have been lenient.
Nope not joking at all, ref was right in front of it... camera caught it, originally got the ball but trailing leg caught him as he pulled it back. Had it been Rooney I expect Clive the muppet Tyldesley would be up saying it was a wonderful challenge, to try and even take it to court is pathetic. Theres been far worse tackles before and people are now just jumping on the bandwagon. Ones I have stated earlier, Shearer's tackle on Lennon and others have been far worse. Roy Keane even stated once that he was meaning to injure Haaland

Nope he lunged in recklessly at full force the ball was the last thing on his mind. If he got any of it, it was pure coincidence. Go read what his previous managers have said about him to find out what kind of player he is. I'm the last to jump on any witch hunting bandwagon but that bloke is a nasty piece of work.

He shows aggression, every team seems to have a player that likes to let his presence known and get physical... Nigel De Jong being ours. Most of the time he catches the ball... hes a top player on and off the field and I had the pleasure of speaking to him at a fans forum last year. He works his socks off for us and I would never get rid of him. If theres any ridiculous tackle De jong has made and could possibly be taken to court for is the one on Alonso in the WC final.

Far worse ones come from:
Karl Henrys... f*ck knows which one, theres been plenty.
Gerrard with the elbow
Shearers tackle on Lennon
Ryan Shawcross kick out at Ramsey

Even Adebayors stamp on Van Persie was the most blatent but he was never threatened with legal action.

If this is the way football is going to go with taking action against players for bad tackles... this one is a poor way to start as it certainly wasnt that bad. Newcastle and Marseille won't get anywhere with this, especially as the ref who had seen the incident made his decision and he's unlikely to come out and say he got it wrong.

I agree re: Adebayor, unbelievable that he got off so lightly with that. We've had our own problem children, most notably Essien and Mikel, the latter being a walking disaster for us till recently but they're more clumsy than vicious. De Jong seems to have intent we're just not going to agree on this mate.

In other news, f*ck me England were crap tonight. Capello, please die, that is all.

Indeed...think il use the old gaga faithful phrase. "We are gonna have to agree to disagree"

"f*ck me England were crap tonight. Capello, please die, that is all."

They should drop Rooney until he bothers to attempt to sing the National Anthem at the start of each England match. It's been noted over the years that he never does, and a couple of years ago the Daily Mail reported that Rooney had never learned the words but had accepted help to learn them, but he obviously still doesn't attempt to sing. I know Capello doesn't but I wouldn't expect him to.
El Loro
Morning all,

Well that was crap last night, yet again Crapello got it wrong. I can't stand Kevin Davies but to call him up and only give him a little play time was disgraceful, he should have at least got a half - he is better than Crouch imo. Mind you. when he came on I said to the son, "Give him 5 minutes and he'll be elbowing someone in the face" Did anyone time the elbow to the throat of the Montenegran?

Most of the wingers were rubbish too, course if Theo performed like that Hansen, Twaddle and the rest of the sad old Arsenal haters would be crucifying him but it's ok when anyone who isn't Theo plays like that.

Crapello still can't speak English properly, he can't manage it when he is being interviewed with a translator to help him, how the hell is he supposed to communicate with the players on the pitch or in the dressing room.  The FA are a total disgrace all round.

As for the national antherm El Loro, I wasn't aware that Rooney didn't join in but I support him 100% if he doesn't. Firstly God Save the Queen is NOT the English anthem and has no right being sung for and to represent England. Secondly, as a committed anti monarchist I don't that the Queen or any of the parasites need saving

And breathe

Bah, I dont care if they sing the national anthem or not.  Some tool actually criticised the Spanish side for not singing theirs during the world cup... cretins.  For one Its shit and politics aside even though I prefer a monarch that works her butt off compared to some "president" who would most likely resemble a mayor of London election or some second coming of a nightmare ex prime minister who would cost 10 times as much  I really couldnt give a flying one if she is saved or not and dont expect them to.

What I do expect is to give a tiny bit of a shit about playing for England.  I really wish we had done what France did and get rid of the useless "golden generation" which have never looked much better than fools gold or costume jewellery.   Toss aside those wasters that get "bored" for 2 weeks without a beer and a playstation and replace them with someone who isnt thinking about their upcoming break in bermuda before the season starts.  We had a virtual players revolt in SA, we have done nothing about it, France have made sure anyone involved will never play for France again and they are rebuilding much like they did in a similar way prior to 1998...

Capello seems to me to have been undermined, he has no power anymore the bluster of power that was once there is no more than a Chitsu humping your leg.  No more than an annoyance that you may tolerate if its your girlfriends in the desperate hope she might still like you.  Its hump is certainly worse than its bite nowadays and its showing in the results.

PS. And its about time England got an anthem of our own.

My post about Rooney not singing the National Anthem was not so much about not singing God Save the Queen as such, but more about his mindset. Most international sporting events seem to have the playing of the participant(s)' or winners National Anthem at some stage. Sometimes as with the recent Commonwealth Games, something else is used, such as Jerusalem at the swimming awards when England won gold. It's done to show that the participants are representing their country. My point was that I was suggesting that Rooney's reluctance to join in with the others meant that he mentally wasn't fully committed to playing for England.
El Loro
I think the majority of them werent mentally fully committed to England whether you can pick the ones out that werent by the singing of the anthem is a bit of punt though.  Rooney is usually one of the ones I would say puts 100% in regardless but maybe other events were praying on his mind or the injury was worse than reported.

Clear indicators to me of giving a damn were complaints of no beer or entertainment and strict regime at the hotel and  the way that they looked after the bad results and the infamous fat cigars and beer right after losing.  John Terry loses a European cup final and he is in floods of tears, after being knocked out of the world cup it looked like like they had lost a Carling cup match.  In comparison to Ghana, Japan and even the USA it was an eye opener and its no good them pretending the next time either or doing a school assembly style singing of the anthem it is either there or it isnt.

Something going on at Bolton? Heard its all kicking off or something
The Stoke fans reacted to the late winner by attempting to invade the home sections of the crowd.

Bloody troglodytes.

Anyway, good win, but I've never seen both sets of fans chanting 'you don't know what you're doing' in unison at the referee before, so kudos to Peter Walton on earning that dubious acclaim...
disley21
I agree with you Mr Meat, can't stand Wigan.  And disley, I agree with you too I have never been at a match before where both sets of fans have been in unison over the ref (and then set about each other but that's another story).  He was pathetic - it was a hand ball and they should have had a penalty but glad they didn't get one of course.  I enjoyed today's match - full of frustration as usual but absolutely loved Kalsnic's goal, especially as we sit near that  goal line - made my day

I've only just seen that Malcolm Allison died the other day...

Now there was a character!

in 1976, Allison received a FA disrepute charge after a News of the World photograph appeared showing him in the Crystal Palace players' bath with porn star Fiona Richmondwhom he had invited to a training session. Then Crystal Palace player, Terry Venables later said of the incident, "I was in the bath with all the players and we heard the whisper that she was coming down the corridor." So far, so good. "We all leapt out and hid, because we knew there'd be photos and that wouldn't go down too well. Malcolm and Fiona dropped everything and got in the bath."
