I think there will be a lot more structuring to come at Liverpool. I don't know if Benitez has taken all the backroom staff with him but I imagine they will also leave.
I'm not sure about Martin O Neill tbh, he seems to have stalled a bit at Villa. I think Hodgson is the better manager with limited resources.
RZB - you should keep him, I reckon Harry could get the best out of him and he seems an ideal CL type player

Morning all

Hiay Veg,
did you notice on the fixtures yesterday. The FA cup final day has a full programme of Premiership fixtures,  So the clubs who make the final if they come from the premiership will play the cup final, the rest will play a league game, the following week, it's the final premiership fixtures, Is it not down grading what was the great club cup competition at one time.
RZB
Hey RZB
No I never noticed that. I was too busy whining about the fact that we have tough away trips after all of our CL fixtures bar one.
We are away at Villa, Man City, Chelsea and Sunderland after Euro games - I haven't even looked to see if we will be away after internationals but it wouldn't surprise me.
If what you're saying is right then they will have to change the fixtures. All last matches MUST be played simultaneously - it's the only way to guard against a Germany v Austria carve up

I'm not going to tempt fate, and look that far ahead for the N17er's...infact , I forget we're even in a C/L qualifier.  I'm not even sure if we don't get through to the group stage, if we go into the Europa league,  time will tell I guess.

I've been on to another forum ranting about the treatment of the FA cup, it seems Wembley has the C/L final, and wants time to prepare, I wouls like to think that's a wind up.

I saw you'd written on my FB wall but I'm having real trouble posting over there - my pute is tantrum central at the mo - I'm thinking of calling it Nikki Graham!
We will do our best to repeat last seasons opening game for your delight this time
As to the goalie - I don't think it matters tbh. I don't have much liking or faith in Capello

Afternoon all,  looking (nervously) forward to tonight.  A lot of cigarettes will be got through tonight.  Was going to do a barbecue and move the portable outside to watch the match, but weather is not looking wonderful here at the moment, so will be inside watching I expect.

Looks as if David James will be first choice keeper tonight, no pressure on the defence then!!

I think that is awful if, as RZB says there will be a full Premier League fixtures list on Cup Final day.... talk about dismissing the FA cup ~ sad that the Champions League final and assorted other non sporting events take precedence above our oldest cup competition.

Germany and Serbia starting soon on BBC1.

veggie

thanks for that   sorry to hear your puter is playing up i am always lost without mine when its out of action, just shows how much we have come to rely on them

as for the goalie - people sometimes forget the blunders James has made when calling for Green to be dropped - Green went on to make a great save in the  USA match - ok, this is a really important match but chopping and changing must be unsettling too

I think Capello still has a lot to prove as well, wasnt impressed with his team selections in the all important "friendlies" in the build up - is it any wonder they cant play together now

i have Algeria in the forum world cup sweepstake

think they have to be one of the worst commentating pairings - mick mccarthy sounds like he is either half asleep or half pissed and pearce is hypo
I always think Pearce sounds like he has a sugar rush all the time and he is actually really difficult to understand if your hearing isn't very good.  McCarthy makes me smile tbh, I always like listening to his after match comments for Wolves, sometimes better than the game.

RZB, I didn't know that, if he spoke a little slower and stopped the screaming like shouting, I could listen to him, as I said he is hard to understand.  Please don't let him be moving to Sky if he is leaving the BBC.

Anyone think Gareth Barry may make a difference to midfield as it will allow both Gerrard and Lampard to take more attacking roles?
i really think that if England want to progress, Capello needs to play the players in their strongest positions which he hasnt always done

Barryshould help things move forward and i think his crosses could be an advantage

No disrespect meant to Algeria, but hopefully it will be a more attacking performance by England, all round, Gerrard and Lampard should be able to push up further and more frequently than they were able to against USA

not holding my breath though

Something my fellow footy fans may be interested in.

If you have Chrome as your browser you know that you can have customised home screens, well if you google chrome extensions, during the World Cup you can have a home page to show your support of your chosen team, mine has been changed to England from the usual pink during the World Cup.  All teams in the competition are available.

James v Green is a funny one for me. As I mentioned in the dead thread, Green always makes a mistake when I see him play against Bolton and nobody ever picks up on it. Meanwhile, James has never made a mistake in games against Bolton from memory, but he's got his 'calamity' nickname, which I always find strange because he plays like Superman every damn time... I remember him saving 3 out of 4 penalties in a penalty shootout against us. That was fun....

So yeah... James > Green based on what I've seen down the years.
