Before the wit-er-knee news took over last night, I was listening to the R5 phone in. Comedy gold! Stacks of baffled lancs 'phoning in speaking thusly,

The handshaking lark is a nod towards sportsmanship and intention to conduct the match in accordance to the rules of fair play. OK, that may be bullshit, but still nice to see before a match.
There's nothing wrong with players showing courtesy towards the opposition before a match.
As you say, Suarez was a fool, as was Dalglish. Fergie was right to berate Dalglish for his conduct - unbecoming of his club's stature. I'm no fan of whiny, temperamental Fergie and his thin skin, but he was right on this occasion, IMO.
One other thing. Two other things. That game last week. We had nine local players on the pitch. What a news item! Unfortunately we were overshadowed by Capello and the two tarts. Three other things.

3) Went on to big up Ferguson, Rooney, Giggs and Scholes.

Joe - I listened to that phone in and the one last night too. Alan Green was getting all mellow with the first 10 callers who were nice and complementary about everything.
Then it all went pear shaped. Highly entertaining
Well it's nice to return to mediocrity for a while. Fourth place is looking like a dream for us at the moment and it's been a long time since we were in that position. Final four will probably be (in this order) Man Utd, Man City, Spurs and Arsenal, leaving us and Liverpool to fight for fifth.
I can't see Newcastle maintaining their form, we might just scrape fifth with King Ku Klux Kenny doing his level best to mess up Liverpool despite them having some decent players.
We have our early bird season ticket prices announced already! If we pay up by Mar 31st it's £370 for son and I. £95 for the grandson. Does this compare favourably with the rest of you. These are our cheapest prices. We sit behind the goal in the home end.

I doubt we'll be promoted now. Too many injuries and we're playing the youngsters! We've dropped out of the playoffs and it's a must win tomorrow night. Later on we are away to west ham, Birmingham, and Ipswich within a week!
You were on a roll for quite a while Joe. Make the playoffs and anything can happen. It's a bit early yet to be giving up. Shame you're not playing Birmingham before we play them in the cup you could have crocked a few for us

I heard a statistic at the weekend that Birmingham have lost 25 players since being relegated last season.
Chris Hughton is clearly doing an excellent job. If Redknapp were to get the England job - could Hughton be a potential candidate for the Spurs job?
