Season ticket holder for a few decades! I stopped going when they moved to the new stadium. It was a suicidal move.
It's a shame what's happening to football.
The biggest killer of the game is the over inflated wages of PL players/
Even if a few clubs can afford them - and most can't - it's the filtering down effect which is most damaging to the game
We had a town centre ground. Pubs, public transport links, and car parks.
We had a new main stand.
Along comes George and in a fit of self aggrandisement he built a new expensively decorated 25000 seater ground, on the edge of town, no links, no pubs, big car park.
Hopefully we'll go back to Feethams or another ground share and work our way back up.
That just shows why the German model for running the clubs is a much better one.
With a majority of fans on the board, moves like that would never be allowed to take place.
Excellent hard fought draw against Chelsea by City today. Chelsea's billionaires couldn't break down the mighty City! Man of the match - Ruddy
Bugger!
Two men sent off and a 3-1 defeat.
Well done Disley and Carnelian - great results for both of you.
Joe - what is happening with Boro? They've imploded since Christmas!
Doubt I'll be celebrating tomorrow but hope springs eternal!
Nice goal there from Robbie Keane on his debut for his boyhood club... just a shame it was scored against his boyhood club.
Did he kiss the badge?
Well that's good news for me
Another few quid down the drain.
Woo-Hoo!
Official whinge pays dividends. Now we need a soft penna converted by potato headed bobby.
...I expected to get turned over , mainly because we usually go to teams higher up the league and do nowt, I think we gave It a go, so we are moving forward, Just need to turn up at Arsenal & Chelsea now.
Yes! Why didn't Valencia fall to the floor for no apparent reason? Rooney might even have slotted it home.
Have to agree. I just cannot fathom it. If there was a fitness problem with the Ox then RvP (as captain on the field) would have known and his reaction to the sub said it all.
I think AW may actually have just about killed his career at The Arsenal with that decision, Fury abounds on all the fora I frequent and there was supposed to be demo outside the ground today. Will speak to my mates later to see what they saw
Maybe Wenger simply doesn't think Oxlade-Chamberlain is ready for 90 minutes of a PL game just yet - you cannot blame him for that.
BTW He looks a great prospect.
AW has said in his pc that AOC was fatigued and had been ill during the week - fair enough. One of the Beeb journos has also said that The Ox was in a bit of distress and twice spoke to the bench so ok.
But I never want to see Arshavin, Djourou, Squillaci, or Diaby in an Arsenal shirt again EVER. They can pee off and take Almunia with them
Well get used to it Meaty. Every fan will look at Man City like Chelsea as having loads of glory supporters.
And with that comes the silent support and the quick to crucity the manager/player/board when things don't go well.
We have it a bit at The Arsenal. Not much though as we've had no glory for a good while!
Those of us who have followed footie for decades are well aware of City's following. They may gain lots more casual fans if they get some success, but it doesn't detract from their core support.
On the BBC website:
Manchester City's Mario Balotelli has been charged with violent conduct by the Football Association following an incident against Tottenham on Sunday.
The 21-year-old's injury-time penalty gave City a 3-2 win, but earlier he appeared to stamp on Scott Parker.
Following a dismissal earlier this season Balotelli faces a four-match ban, but any unsuccessful appeal could result in a longer suspension.
This is the incident:
Not sure how Lescott has gone through unnoticed... but I guess seeing as SSN have played Marios incident every minute since the game he didn't stand a chance. Inconsistency pisses me off with the FA, an England international goes and kicks a player off the ball and he gets handed just two games and recieves help from the FA themselves
Players were going about kicking each other on Sunday, as soon as Balotelli came on and made one of those tackles... the whole spurs side was in uproar and Webb didn't even hesitate because it's him. Had it been anyone else they wouldn't of done anything, teams know he'll get screwed over.
Something has gone wrong with the game. It seems quite demeaning that players now have to roll around being injured, feign injury, act like tarts etc.
As us Marxists would say there is a crisis of hegemoney in the theory of deterrence department. I'm not a violent person but I am overcome in a wave of nostalgia for a time where the likes of Ron Greener would have jumped to his feet and dropped Balotelli there and then.
The FA have said no charge for Crouch... I don't know whether to laugh or cry
I enjoyed that game. Decided to stay in and watch it rather than schlepp to watch our babies away at Fulham. Good decision really as we lost!
I wanted Palace to win but Cardiff deserved it
I was saying to a friend the other day, that I thought the board should offer Kevin Davies to Sheff Utd for Β£200k, and now I read he could be off for Β£1.5m to Sunderland.
I did say on here back in Sept/Oct that I thought he was finished at Premier League level, so that'd be a massive surprise.
Can't believe that we got a draw.
Arsenal next round!
Whoo hoo Joe, I watched you on the tele and was cheering you on all the way. Good luck in the next round, I'm just glad we got through to be able to play you
We more than deserved it Great goal...bring on the replay
