The problem is Capello doesn't have time to sit and wait for Rooney to find his best, high expectations come along with the England job. The media, fans and the FA want quick results and Capello is never going to stick Rooney up front when he isnt scoring. He's only scored 9 goals in 29 games this season. It could of been a 0-0 draw against Wales had Capello stuck Rooney up front.

Its the same with Ferguson, he's not gonna play Rooney up front every game if he isnt scoring... it could cost them the league. Luckily for United, while everyone was being ripped off across the league by spending over £25mil on strikers... they went and signed an underrated mexican for £8mil.

MrMincePie

Rooney's been playing well without scoring. Stick him behind the front two and he'll cause a lot of damage. We'd still have beaten Wales that way. Sticking him on the left is a waste. Anelka won the golden boot in the PL till Ancelotti had the bright idea of sticking him on the f*cking wing!

It's like the idiot England fans and even BBC pundits who used to criticise Sven for having Hargreaves in the squad. Linekar even opened up BBC's WC2006 coverage with a german line followed by 'Thanks to Owen Hargreaves for the translation - at least he's useful for something!'. Total numbskulls like! He soon proved them wrong in that tournament though!

To be fair, Hargreaves was pretty terrible until then, but that's because we only saw him play out of position at right back or whatever. Add on the fact that he was playing in Germany with very little coverage over here, and it pretty much meant your average fan had no idea how good he could actually be when played in his favoured position.

But the 'experts' shouldn't be so ignorant about anything non-premier league, they should have watched his bundesliga games before jumping to conclusions. Another example of this is when Motson said Van Nistelrooy had been a flop at Real Madrid, despite the fact that when he said it, RVN had just finished the season top scorer in La Liga! No excuse for such amateur ignorance from experts who are paid for their knowledge of football.

I disagree about Hargreaves being terrible until then by the way. He was rarely given a chance, the odd 10 mins in friendlies here and there isn't a chance and during the 06 World Cup he covered right back superbly. Going way back to my childhood I even remember him playing right back for Bayern in a Champions League quarter final and marking an in his prime Ryan Giggs totally out of the game.

Liverpool already do have a large Asian following, that aside I wouldn't mind us buying Honda from Japan.

I think their point is one Asian player for Liverpool would give them massive marketing opportunities there. It is SOD ALL to do with them which players Liverpool have in their team. As if the game wasn't already rapidly turning more into a business than a form of entertainment as it is!

I would disagree with you there, one of the most attractive things about Torres was his marketability. Torres number 9 was the most print name and number in the Premier League in 2010 and 2009 and 3rd in 2008.

He is practically a marketing tool in that some fans from Asia support the player not the club so no matter who FT is playing for the jersey sales will still be high. All players bring with them a certain marketability.

**edit sorry just realising it is the sponsors I initially thought it was the owners you were talking about. You are correct, but what I said still stands for the owners**

If anything I feel embarrassed for that City fan who had a tattoo of Rooney on his back.

Yeah Rooney was criticised all week from all angles about his antics but he's got to work hard now and earn confidence back of those who he ostracised. He's shown glimpses of being back to himself but this season he's also missed Antonio Valencia's delivery as they have a good understanding.

Wigan.

I hope the hammers stay up.

When we had Nakata on loan for a year there were suddenly groups of Japanese girls at the Reebok. Which was nice.

Anyway, I'm hoping this crap about referees being given even more of a license to be terrible without being told they are is just an April Fools joke...

I don't think Birmingham are scoring enough goals and could well go down, West Brom seem to be scrapping now, still enough games for any team to get out of it, Villa I think have too many good players to go, but they wouldn't be the first to go down with internation players.

It wasnt real... the daily mail even wrote an apology after it was revealed the photo was faked. The tatoo was photshopped, it was in america and the original photo was found by bluemoon. The same with the photo of a guy with a mullet with 10-Rooney on the back outside COMS. It was originally 32-Tevez... the only real one found was the nob who decided to get Kaka into his skin.

MrMincePie

Oh right Meaty, didn't know that.

I would be gutted if Villa went down but like Newcastle it would be a case of the performances not being good enough and less points than the teams around them. If Wolves win at Newcastle tomorrow then the home team could suddenly be dragged into the relegation battle..

darloboy (Play The Game!)
I love saturders, me! Especially when we are at home. Twill be touch and go against Leicester though. I'm also hoping for wins by the deckchairs (unlikely) and barcodes. In one of my pre season bets I picked the relegated teams to all begin with a W.
Garage Joe

****ity **** fucccccccccccck!!

Indiscipline cost us, 2 penalties after we were 1-0 up. Had we won today we would have been breathing down the neck of 4th spot but Roy Hodgson is still tormenting us after he has gone.

I just scrolling through telly box channels, and it reminded me of what I heard on the radio this afternoon..............shrek  'swearing' on camera.  If this is true, nice one Shrek  Apparently the camera went looking for him in his goal celebration, but there's no need....why? The camera's there. He needs to reign himself in

FM

Not the first time he's said something on camera either Mincey....Remember his outburst in South Africa?   Twill be interesting to see how the Reds get out of this one, cos they will

Peeps would be beying for his blood, every team's got one though. A certain Mr Barton comes to mind, allthough he seems to have calmed himself down.

My point is the Reds seem to wangle their way out of everything. We'll see what happens here

It sounds to me as though he was responding to something the cameraman said to him. Out of order but hardly the crime of the century. PC gone absolutely mad when there's such uproar over a swear word. It's a football match ffs not a toff's tea party.

As I heard it on the radio Prom, the camera went looking for him in his goal celebration. That's ok with me, but for him to know the camera was there and mouth off......that's out of order IMO

I'm not getting myself worked up really, I just wonder how the Mancs will wangle their way out of this one..cos they will

They'll probably get away with it because it's the FA. Drogba got a six match ban for saying the ref was a f*cking disgrace (which was true) because UEFA hate English clubs. Rooney will probably get away with three (if he gets a ban at all).

See, that's what's so wrong. One rule for the Mancs and another for the other teams. .....If only the many authorities had any kahunas
