Damn this bliddy thread is playing up again. Have to keep posting a dot in order to get to see the latest posts and then delete them
Onetoo - It's what the Gooners call Almunia and Fabianski. I do like them both but they weren't up to the task last season.
Meaty - truth be told I'd settle for Theakston or Kielty after their performances in Soccer Aid!
Capt - we have a couple of good baby keepers I've seen a lot of. James Shea and James Dunn but they are really young. I'd just as soon go with Emma Byrnes, she's awesome .

Almunia is a good shot stopper and he saves a lot of penalties but he has too many other weaknesses.  Cant believe people would think Green is better than him.  We do need a much better CL quality level keeper though.

That young polish keeper i can never spell or pronounce smrchhrbrb or something is supposed to be good but will be ready in about 10 years as well.  Hopefully Wenger spots one at this WC we always have trouble with work permits and swanning off to the Nations cup with African keepers though, would prefer a European at least

Lol at Gerrard on the radio " We need to get behind Robert Green"
Great thinking Batman, at least if you're behind him you'll get a chance to clear the balls he drops
I'm not too concerned really about our chances of getting through, we are notoriously slow starters.
I'm not a fan of Capello though or some of his selections/tactics/formations but England are England so C'mon the lads
FM
I dont like his selections but at least he got us to this competition.  I cant see us getting past Germany if we go through second.

This is the worst England squad ive ever seen IMO and I am not just saying that because of the poor performance.  You have to bear in mind I was at the game when Geoff Thomas did that legendary shot in the Graham Taylor era.

I am not saying anything about SWP...

i dont think England played to bad they actually were very good in attack imo Heskey shouldnt have been on the pitch he was awful other than his pass that lead to the goal the rest of the team played well other than the mistake that cost us but he did make a great save to keep it at 1-1 .

keep the faith we should win the next 2 games easliy .

Wise not to Because he didnt actually have a bad game...
Alright I will then.  He was better than Milner but he couldnt beat a man cross a ball shoot or keep possession but apart from that yea he was brilliant.

And I would have to go through quite a list before I started to single out Heskey for criticism.  He set up a goal and had a couple of good chances which he didnt take as usual but what did Rooney do?
CaptVimes
Heskey did exactly what he was picked to do, and he created the goal. Rooney started very slowly and didn't live up to his billing as a world class striker. Gerrard lived up to the captains armband with an inspiring performance but Green played exactly how you'd expect a player from a team who barely avoided relegation i.e. badly. Hart Must Start, and So Should Joe.

Perhaps if he wasnt played out of position then there wouldnt be a problem

I said in another thread you cant play sweep on the left, give him the ball on the right and he will just lightly step across the player... it was the same when he had that shot, he was on the left side of the pitch using his right foot. It was gonna go straight at the keeper... on the right he would of hit it with power towards the corner.

Well maybe he should have taken a player that can play on both wings then, one of the reasons for my argument against him going.  To be honest Milner was more disappointing he was all of the above, playing in position and in addition couldnt deal with their full back (at least SWP did that) and was on the verge of getting a red.

It depends on who goes over SWP... Johnson should of gone over him I recon, he can play on both sides and can most importantly cross a ball.

England has been screaming for a left footer for years, Fabio finally got one who is young and he didnt take him.

Yes I said before its baffling why Johnson wasnt looked at.  So can Walcott has done for club on a number of occasions and can be a backup striker too we only have 3 what I would call goal scoring strikers and you only need a red and an injury.. anyway thats done and we have who we have.

You dont have to be left footed to play on the left well Arsenal have had a lot in recent years that were brilliant right footed left wingers.  Its a pity Gibbs was still injured because he played well there for the U21's and Arsenal and is also a very good left back.

They are not going to live that one down, I can feel for the poor bugger that they will surely sack for it and apparently most of the game they didnt even broadcast in HD either presumably petrified it would happen again.

Im afraid you do if your name is Shaun Wright-Phillips, its been proved numerous games he can't play there. Mancini gave it a go at City and it never worked out... stick him on the right and he would produce the goods.
