testing... cos Croc is showing us as last poster.... but last post is showing as Disley...
And to confuse matters more, when I looked at this thread around 5 yesterday afternoon (so before disley's 17.32 post, it stopped at Veggie's 14.08 post so my Nani injury post had vanished. I had wondered if had been removed for some obscure reason, but it obviously ties in with the above problems.

Biggest football day of the year and it's down on page 3... that's not right.

I thought the opening ceremony was pretty rubbish, but then I suspect such things will be a letdown for years to come after Beijing in 2008 (biggest letdown will be the 'gosh aren't we diverse and down wiv da kidz opening ceremony in London in two years time).

The game tomorrow is vitally important to me, as my girlfriend is American. I'd be hearing about it for years if they somehow won...

Bit of a footy lover, but can't seem to get enthused about this world cup. This is a feeling many of my colleagues and friends share. It's really strange as for most tournaments we are really up for it.

Having said that I watched the second half of RSAvMex. Two average sides which could get a pasting from a decent side. Good goal by RSA, but shocking defending for the equaliser.

Dreadful celebration, looked like a bunch of Britain's not got talent rejects.

Just settling down for URGvFRA.
Enthusiastic Contrafibularities
Cant wait

I think we are going to get the buzzing noise at all the games unfortunately.

Watching the ITV coverage so far I am wondering if they could possibly be more patronising about the USA team if they tried.  We arent playing the Faroe Islands.  And please nobody ask Keggy Keagan if he thinks we will score from a penalty, the man is cursed and Southgate isnt exactly bristling with luck in that area either :bites nails:

I think it's quite funny that everyone seems to be going on about Wayne Rooney's temperament all of a sudden. Everybody knows what he's like, but he didn't pick up a single yellow card in the qualifiers...
He was pretty lucky not to the way he behaved at times, and the finals are always a lot different.  Still lets hope he has learnt from the last time

Evening Capt I've been listening to the build up on 5 live, about to put the telly on now. Patronising commentary is really tempting fate. I listened to our match away at Wigan on Arsenal TV online and they were giving it large how terrible Wigan were - until they up and beat us
Evening

Pride before a fall as they say :/ lets hope not.  You dont underestimate a team from a nation of 300 million people and a strong sporting history I am sure Cappello wont be though.

Landon Donovan had Cashley in his pocket when Everton played Chelski this season so that'll be an interesting battle.
My son was a camp counsellor/football coach in 2002 in the States during the World Cup and more girls than boys played it then. There is a lot of competition in the States for football to compete with other sports - and the other sports are well established and give the best players a way into college

Soccer is the most played sport in college though even for boys they just dont play it afterwards for some reason.
