Blimey Meaty, you Man Citeh lot shop like a woman Who's everyone got on their wish lists for the new season then? I'd like a solid keeper, at least one CB and a bit more depth to the squad
Its City.

Don't care who we sign, im more concerned about players going out...hearing stories about players going to spurs and villa. Why the f*ck would we want to sell our players to another club who is currently in or challenging the top four I would be pissed off if that was to happen.
MrMincePie
Apologies Meaty  I agree that it seems stupid to sell players to your rivals but I suppose that if the manager thinks he is bringing in something even better.....

Darlo - we have Vermaelen who is already a legend - we wouldn't have collapsed at the end of the season if he had been fit. We also have Djourou coming back after being out for the whole season with an injury he got with Switzerland. Silvestre is out of contract, Gallas can naff off as far as I'm concerned and I think we should buy a tall aggressive CB - not sure who though. There is another Belgian CB who is rumoured to be excellent but can't remember the name.
Man U deffo need to sort out their midfield. Crunchy was so right with the stuff he was saying at the start of the season

does anymore than 5% of what's written or rumoured actually happen. I'll be intersted to see what happens at WHL with Pav going or staying, Craig Bellamy is linked with Spurs on a daily basis since he patted Redknapp on the back at Eastlands... how they come to that assumption is beyond me
Yeah it's all a load of old tosh. I usually say I'll read about stuff on the Arsenal website when it actually happens but the Cesc thing seems a cert.

Too many rumours though, most of them planted by the players themselves or the agents!!
I thought Pav was back in Arrys good books - one thing you can say for the Oover is that he is a brilliant man manager.

To only miss out by 1 point was a brilliant effort by Man U considering they lost Ronaldo & Tevez from the previous seaons,  I didn't think they would get as close as they did, Altough a lot more games were lost by the top teams than normal.
RZB
Yeah it was a case of the least worst side winning it this season I thought.
I can't understand Chelsea getting all the plaudits - I thought that they were really rubbish at times especially in the first half of matches away from home.
Be interesting to see what happens with them - they have an aging squad and need to invest

I know sure silenced some of the doubters, most of the defence injured too although Rooney, Evra, Valencia, Fletcher and Nani were the saviours of our season tbh. Midfield does need sorting out.

Everyone has been inconsistent this season but it's been great to see teams like Spurs, City and Villa pushing hard for a place near the top makes it more competitive each season.
darloboy (Play The Game!)
We were on course to score over a hundred goals until RVP got injured - sour grapes I know but true.
I get really angry with the way sides (Arsenal included) seem intimidated by Chelsea. It seems more mental than physical - like they have lost the match before they step on the pitch.
Darlo - there are managers like AW, Fergie and others who build a complete side from the bottom up and then others like Mourinho who are guns for hire. They just go to clubs like Chelsea and City and know that they are there short term so don't bother about the legacy
FM
You should get Barca to give you some hints on tapping up, Disley
I've heard that Newcastle want Super Jack next season as well. If Cesc goes we may need him back what with Aaron Ramsay still recovering from his savaging by Stoke and Fran Merida rumoured to be off to Atletico.
CB's are at a real premium I think - not sure why but football doesn't seem to be producing the quality and quantity in central defence that it used to.
Have to say I was wrong about Coyle - he made the right decision in leaving Burnley. I still think he did the dirty on them though but clearly he's been vindicated by what's happened

Carrick has been linked with an exit away from OT and possibly back to you guys RZB, hope it's not true
Why? The whole United midfield needs ripped to shreds and only Hargreaves and Scholesey kept. I must have said about a hundred times in this thread alone about how weak United's midfield is. It's absolutely gash compared to other top european sides midfields. Look at Chelsea's compared to Man U's, it was so noticable in the fixture at Old Trafford last month. Iniesta, Busquets and Xavi absolutely schooled Carrick, Anderson and co in Rome

Pfft, we never bowed down to Chelsea, in fact we shat all over them at stamford bridge.

On the subject of Mourinho, great manager... but he's always on the move. City need a manager who is in for the long run and plans to stay and build on the project. Not just win a domestic cup and piss off after one year.

I know most Arsenal fans don't want to lose Cesc and even though he will eventually go at some point maybe Wenger should take a leaf out of Fergie's book and end the constant speculation once and for all, then take the cash which could then be used to get other players which the team is in need off especially in defence with Gallas looking to be off
He doesnt need to learn from Fergusons book in this respect.  EVERY year we have Barca after one of our players.  This isnt something new, only difference is we dont get offered 80 million for them.  If that was the case it wouldnt be a difficult decision at all.  If the recent trend with Real Madrid and United continues then expect them to be sniffing at your door in the not too distant future too.  Though you might be able to trick them into buying Berbatov .

Most Arsenal fans realised this would be inevitable with Cesc at some point.  I was really hopeful of Ramsey looking like a better player than he was at his age but that leg break might put pay to all that .  I hope he recovers, some players never do really.

I still can't believe Vermaelen is only about 23/24 he looks older, he's really good maybe another full back will boost the defence even though Sagna and Clichy have mad the spot their own.
Gibbs had all but played Clichy out of the team before he got the metatarsal break.  Being an English Arsenal player none of the media pundits seemed to have noticed this.  I dont really have any worries about our full backs.

YES please.  Never liked Gallas and he is perennially crocked, Djourou is just not convincing and Sol cant go on much longer surely.  New big tall CB please we must have had the smallest defence in England all leagues before Sol came back, actually make that two so we actually have a backup.  And a goalkeeper and a new striker.  Sorry Eduardo it was very sad but you are just not good enough now and we are not a charity.

Capt Vimes  It's all gone mad in Gooner world over the last couple of days - hope you're well. You might appreciate this spoof - it's a bit littered with Joe Kinnear style sweariness but made me laugh especially as it looks like it's come direct from Arsenal.com, until you start reading it!!

Hey Darlo and everyone
There are some funny photos on this thread, shame so many images seem to be unavailable

Would I like a change? Hmmmm....... The only good things about the season were that St. Pauli went up and Hannover stayed up.
I was certain Arsenal would win the League. I liked their football and  (Prior to Man City) they seemed the only club with a firm financial footing.
I thought that the Boro might make the play-offs, but Strachan sold our best player and bought mainly crocks who couldn't even make it in the SPL. I'm not too confident about next year but renewed m'season ticket.
I thought that Darlo might struggle but oddly enough their finances are good, so hoping for a better season and a Derby against York.
Garage Joe
I was quietly confident this season tbh but we were too inconsistent and leaked too many really cheap goals even without the devastation of the injury situation.
That being said there have been times this season when I have never been prouder of a group of Arsenal players. Plus our Ladies are still excellent and our Academy babies won their title - even with a lot of the regulars out on loan.
I'm not a fan of Strachan so have sympathy - remember my bring back Gareth banner?  You would still think that a club like Boro should be able to at least get into the playoffs next season.
Barnet were almost down there with Darlo - very alarming slide they had towards the end of the season

Hehe thanks for that, it did make me chuckle.  The spoofer says exactly what I did re players, its no secret what we need to go forward next year.  I just dont think we have the money but we shall see.

I am good how are you?  Waiting during this lul period for the world cup and big brother to come along all at once .

I roared tbh, made a change from all the dire 'pass the razor blades' or Wenger must go tosh that has been around the Gooner internet for the last couple of days.
I'm ok thanks, not been around for a while but getting back into forum life. I managed to watch our Ladies all season and our babies (Reserves) and our Academy babies quite a bit too and we have some great talent coming through.
Are you going to the Emirates Cup? I managed to get seats for both days in block 1 behind the Arsenal bench so looking forward to it a lot.
