Hi veggie both results today good for the teams a few points behind keeping it interesting, not that i mean any team in particular of course ,listening to a lot of phone ins today lot of Villa fans unhappy at the moment, feeling we should be doing better MO'N coming in for a lot of stick, makes me angry in a way,i think we are doing ok with what we have gotwould love to be a few places higher up,but to do that we need to spend a bit of cash.i would imagine at the start of the season most fans would have been happy with where we are now, still in the mix .Expectations are really high now and nothing wrong with thatbut we have to spend.
Bit of a downer for your lot today, but at least you accept that it was a poor performance, funny old game isn't it

Hi Maggie
Yep, footie drives you mad at times that's for sure.
I know what you mean about the phone ins, I swear they only put fans on there who will say what they want them to say i.e. slag off the manager.
It's really funny with MON because it seems, like last season, that the pundits spent the first half of the season kissing his feet and the second half ripping him apart,
I do think that the Liverpool situation is causing a lot of unrest. I personally think it was one of the main reasons Mark Hughes got the boot. I mean it's one thing if the 'top 4' are inpregnable and everyone is scrambling to be 5th but something totally different if that 4th spot is up for grabs - and a team other than yours gets it.
Morning everyone btw

Afternoon all.

Well I've recovered from Friday!  We did not play well and Di Mat had the guts to publically come out and say this.  TBH I have lost confidence in Carson and did actually feel sorry for Tamas our new defender, talk about being thrown in at the deep end, we just did not turn up at all.

Well we have Newcastle next match and that is a 6 pointer if ever there was one!  And on Sky as well, we do not do well on the telly, oh well saves a loooong journey to Newcastle!  When we played them in the Cup a few years ago, we went and it was the journey from hell, I don't know who goes to long away matches, but this time we decided not to take drinks as we had been to a couple of matches and the coach usually stops - not this one!!!  Also there was an accident on the A1M and we ended up with the coach driver thinking he was clever and taking a diversion, and we got lost!!  Ended up driving through Darlington.  When I really got worried was when I saw signs for Scotch Corner!!  Thinking that this was on the border and we had gone past Newcastle.  Newcastle had put the match back because all the Baggie coaches had got stuck in this, but even so we ended up getting into the ground after kick off and all the places to get a drink had closed.  I was really needing a drink by then and how I lasted til half time I don't know!!  I drank a bottle of Coke in one go when we eventually got something to drink, but Hughsie scored, we won and we learnt a lesson that day, even if you are not sure, always take a drink with you on Baggie coach journeys!!  Thankfully when we went to Sunderland last year the same thing didn't happen, we got to stop at Washington services so as the police could escort us into Sunderland.

Maggie, do you mean WM phone ins? If so I swear they just have people on to slag off the team/manager even if they are doing ok.  I don't listen to WM any more for obvious reasons (don't have Baggies coverage), I listen to Beacon/BRMB and Tom Ross even though he is a Bluenose is much fairer I think, with the type of callers who he has on
What used to get me about WM coverage is that they would be broadcasting the match and then saying instead of sticking to commentary, what do you think of WBA, phone or text on ........... and you would miss commentary because of it.  Tom Ross and Bomber don't do this.  And as for the complete idiots you get ringing TalkSport, well I think they pick them specially.

No idea, but he's the fourth member of their coaching staff that has followed Owen to Bolton...
Cheers, can't help feeling just a little bit sorry for Burnley though, not good to lose all that backroom staff at this stage in the season.  Though I expect you Bolton fans are loving not having Dear Mr Megson as your manager anymore.  I see that just before he left you, he was having a moan about the training ground and the all weather surface there, surely the dumb so and so knows how bad this winter has been, I expect most clubs are experiencing problems with all weather surfaces at the moment, even the big four clubs.  I mean we have a brand new training facility and I'm sure they are having the same type of problems.

Hi Darlo

I wonder sometimes about footballers who go to or stay at clubs where they are unlikely to get many games. I don't know if it is just motivated by greed or laziness etc.
Spurs have one of the biggest squads of experienced internationals who never get a game and they aren't even fielding a reserve team this year so some of them get games there - it's very strange.
I suppose it could work to their advantage if there is the massive fixture congestion forecast as they will have fresh players available but even so

I feel sorry for Pompey TBH.  I know people will come back and say that they over expanded, but even so, for a team bottom of the PL, who can't pay their players on time, now being threatened with TV revenue being taken off them and given to other clubs that they owe, it's a sad state of affairs and backs up what people have been saying about clubs getting into serious financial problems.  I mean we are 7 million pounds in debt, up to the limit according to Jeremy Peace and yet we are seen as one of the more solvent clubs in the top two divisions.  Personally it confirms to me that Peace does have the right idea, keeping a tight hold on the club's finances and not paying over the top prices for players.  Just wish that other fans could see the same thing, Pompey stand a real chance of going out of business, Liverpool has said public ally that they would sell two of their best players to help get out of the debt they are in, if a club like Liverpool is struggling so badly, where is that going to leave other clubs?

I couldn't understand half of it  RZB, very strange though to bet like that.
No wonder rumours are rife about match fixing linked to betting scams if that's the sort of bets that are made.
I understand betting odds (mostly) although I never gamble - I don't even do the lottery. But to bet over 4k to win 44 quid is beyond mental

Pinky, you're so right. There is going to be a real reckoning with footy and debt before too long. Portsmouth have said in the past that the new owner at the time was telling them to go out and make big expensive signings because that's what he wanted.
FIFA and UEFA have to realise that being a footy fan is more than a casual pastime for most of us and put strict regs in place to prevent what is happening at the mo happening.
It's heartbreaking for the fans of those clubs. As you say, if this can happen to a mighty club like Liverpool then what hope is there for everyone else.
Without Gerrard and Torres they would be in serious trouble I think

I shall watch the match on ATV online tonight. I would have gone if they'd announced sooner that they had moved the match to Upton Park. The Hammers babies usually play out near Stansted airport in the back of beyond that's difficult to get to on public transport.
I can't understand why AW would prefer Campbell to Senderos. Senderos has played well  every time he's played for us this season whether in the first team or the reserves. Campbells legs have long gone and if he had to cover for TV or WG along with Silvestre (who is also really slow getting back when he's out of position) then we'd be deep in the doodah

EDIT - for some reason they don't have the match live on the website  They usually do for all the babies games

Ooh Disley, those grapes are less than sweet. Lots of people are bemused by Owen Coyles move. Not least from North of the border because he turned down Celtic.

Personally I think Bolton is a bigger club than Celtic for many reasons but I still think that Coyle has done the dirty on Burnley and don't really understand why.
If he does a good job and you improve then you'll have the last laugh
