I just prefer watching football in the summer on nice pitches, rather than freezing my balls off at matches in December where it is dark by half time
But that's traditional!
It's not mid-season footie otherwise! God almighty, if hordes of Toon Army fans can still take their tops off in the snow and wave their mottled blue flab around, none of us should complain..

Nah, you can't beat freezing cold Tuesday nights in January and February at the Hawthorns watching us lose and get frozen to your seat.  There's a whole different atmosphere about footy at this time of year, the special smell that comes off the pitch that you get this time of year.  Also practically if the footy season runs into the summer then when would competitions like the European Championships and the World Cup be played?  There is already enough arguments about players going to the Africian Cup of Nations.

Change it to the winter, so then this takes away the african cup of nations problem clubs have every 2 years. Obviously the likes of La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A, and obviously the UEFA competitions etc would have to follow suit, but it shouldn't be a problem.

This would never happen the African FA's would go moaning to Blatter, Platini and co and they will never do anything thats benefical to the FA or the PL
Ah! For once I disagree with darlo.  The African nations outrank the FA and the PL. If these teams didn't want any hassle over such a competition they should not have bought (aka gone into debt) the players.

Why would the African FA have a problem with

A) Their players having a months rest before the cup of nations starts

and

B) Not having the players parent clubs moaning about releasing them like they currently do?

Surely it would be beneficial to African Football Associations for the european leagues to run from February to November? So I don't get why they'd go complaining to Blatter.

If we are to have such wholescale changes then I'll have my two pennorth. I would like 'em to do away with the World Cup and instead have a European Cup every two years. That way we'd have more teams that we were interested in taking part and we wouldn't have to go to places like Argentina, Japan, South Korea/Africa or the USA. They are just some of the daft places we have been expected to go to in my lifetime.

BREAKING NEWS

BECKFORD HANDS IN TRANSFER REQUEST

Leeds United can confirm that Jermaine Beckford has handed in a transfer request.

The transfer request was handed in on December 30.

By handing in a transfer request it clearly indicates that the player wants to leave Leeds United.

However, that will only be allowed to happen in the event that it is decided to be in the best interests of Leeds United.

The best interests of Leeds United involve receiving both an acceptable transfer fee and securing a suitable replacement to ensure his departure does not have an adverse effect on the club's overall aim of securing promotion back to the Coca-Cola Championship.

I was hoping the game would go ahead for you Veggie, maybe pick up one or eight injuries for Saturday

Ah yes, the old injury watch! I do indulge in it myself I have to confess - son says that he thinks my evil thoughts are the reason Arsenal get so many injuries. Divine retribution/ bad karma etc.
I can see there being a few problems when it does get rescheduled with some of the season ticket holders who have sold on their tickets. My seat tonight was bought through the resale policy that Arsenal have so that season tickets holders that can't make games sell their ticket through the club. I bet whoever's I got will want it back when the game does go ahead - and they aint having it as it's in block one right behind the bench

He will struggle to even make the bench
No. he'll be really good at that after all the practice he's had in Serie A this season

Thing is; he'd be good at Arsenal where we have lots of babies who need someone like him around. At City you have such a lot of seasoned experienced professionals that it's hard to see what Mancini wants him for

No stalking AW tonight then
I had tickets right behind the bench  *shakes fist at the snow*
Still I will be stalking him at Barnet when the babies play - and there's less security there

Pinkalicious is a good name for you - Pink and delish! Sorry to hear about your ears, I take zinc tablets to help my immune system but even so I've been down with one cold after another for a couple of months, although I'm ok at the mo.
Wishing you better hun
