I'm a bit surprised that O'Neill hasn't gone to a top top club sooner to be honest.
Villa are the top club in the Midlands, said through gritted teeth!!  The proper rivals to us in fact   And the Midlands is a footballing area on the up again after a long period of decline, and they definitely have a long and proud history as one of the biggest clubs in the country.

I think M O'N is happy where he is.  He had to take a long break out of football when his wife was taken ill a few years back (thought that was truly fantastic when he gave up managing Celtic for his wife, because she had supported him through his career and he said it was time to support her through her illness), and probably wouldn't enjoy the pressure again of being at a "bigger club".  He has a chairman who supports him, and will give him funds for transfer and has done well in the league for the last 2 seasons, I would imagine most Villa fans are happy with him.  He has got the chance to take Villa to the next level in the PL and good luck to him and them, as a Midlands footy fan, I can only be happy that my area is receiving more attention from the national press.

Good morning all and as I am not sure how much time I can spend here today, want to wish you all a Happy New Year and hope 2010 brings you plenty of points (apart from teams when they come to the Hawthorns!)

Happy New Year Pinky,  no worries about us taking points from the Hawthorns. even when you are in the Premiership. The Baggies quickly closed the gap on Newcastle, how did that happen.

It's interesting seeing what effect people putting 2 + 2 together and getting 12 can have on bookies odds.

People saw Paul Jewell in the crowd at the Reebok on Tuesday so people hurried to put bets on him being the man for the job, as if the club would be stupid enough to have him sat in the ground before sacking Megson, and that flurry of activity briefly made him favourite.

The truth is, Jewell was there as a guest of Megson...

Peter Reid is the current favourite, but that would depend on there being nobody on the board of directors that can remember his time as a player at the club, when he burnt all his bridges by going on strike...

Coyle is second favourite, and has always been my first choice, I just can't see him leaving Burnley for us now they are also in the Premiership.

Interestingly, one Bolton fansite has setup a poll with all the candidates, Mark Hughes has 2/3 of the vote, with the next highest vote being the joke candidate of 'me and my mum' on 7%.

LMAO RZB, that really made me roar!
Right I'm off to watch Johnny Depp and finish my grandsons jumper before the son and wife bring him over to visit tomorrow - be back later on though.

Btw-  Arsenal fans last night to the mass leaving of Pompey fans 10 minutes before full time:

"Is there a fire drill, is there a fire drill?"

Cheryl's album is good. I'm not just saying that because she's fit. Her album is actually good.

Strike, we have nothing to lose, you have it all to lose.

If we manage to shut you out, and we get a free kick somewhere on the edge of the box, it could just be our day. Shrewsbury and Oldham have beaten you in recent years. I mean Shrewsbury ffs and that was the year they were relegated from the League 2 to the conference.

it's crazy darlo, top 5 last 2 years, european football and we haven't got a penny to buy anyone
What happens to the TV Revenue money. I know Everton is the proud '' people's club'' as you like to be known but surely the board if they want more success in the future should consider getting a rich investor although credit for them to sticking to the proud principles of the club.
