Had a good day today thanks hun. Had lunch with some fellow Gooners and then went to the game which we won 2-0, so 5-0 on aggregate. Quite a big lively crowd for the Ladies as it was a CL match.
Re the goalkeeper, I feel so very sorry for him. To lose a child must be devastating beyond any kind of words. Then to have to cope with the stigma of having mental illness and worrying that he will have another child taken away must have been unendurable for him.
Unfortunately people with mental illness are often treated with suspicion and fear and you could imagine the chants from the terraces.

I know a sufferer, at times you would never of noticed any difference, then at other times, they would not get out of bed, and just wanted to pull the covers over , and hide for the rest of their life, Depression can be such a powerful thing,

Whoops sorry Darlo I answered RZB then saw that you had asked as well so you can be included in the reply lol.
Impy is a (whispers) MK Dons fan. Her son is/was under 8s keeper for Northampton Town and she runs a local youth team so she knows a lot about the grass roots stuff.
Little Miss Sours doesn't really like it much here either, and I notice several regulars are missing. We need to get them back
RZB, you must have been pleased with Spurs financial report for the last year - 31 million profit. Wait until you start that new Stadium, those things eat money

I haven't been able to work for 3 years because of severe depression, agoraphobia, panic attacks etc. I don't really talk about it on here but there is a real 'pull yourself together' mentality among the general poplulation who equate severe depression with just feeling fed up.

Not to mention guilt shame and embarassment at asking for help!(for a sufferer).Oh,and being labelled lazy
M
Lol Mazzy, and I've been turned down again for DLA, despite being labelled (makes me feel like a bloody suitcase!) as a vlunerable adult. I'm having to appeal it, which just takes more energy than I have.
Talking about happier stuff, I saw the chat some of you were having about female coaches in footie. I think there is a woman who took charge at one of the lower division Scottish clubs for a few matches last season but I can't remember the details.
It's really difficult as we at Arsenal had Vic Akers for 22 years and when he retired from the day to day managing last season I really hoped we would get a woman coach as the best ladies side should have one I think. Instead they went with Tony Gervaise who is a lovely bloke and was Vics number 2.
It's really hard to say the job should have gone to a woman without it sounding like a criticism of Tony which would be unfair. But I do think that they should have made more of an effort to get a woman for the job

I think it will take a while for womens coaches to work their way up to that level...Arsenal ladies arent going to compromise their position by giving the post to someone who's not experienced enough..and i dont think many ladies have stuck it out against all the sexism, etc,to reach the top. But,yes, quite rightly a woman should be encouraged to apply for these jobs.

reLA..but I do think many dont realise how debilitating an illness it is...and lazy so and sos who take the pee(I work with one don't help. There are at least three of us who have had/have issues with depression and stress and I do resent the small minority of shirkers that/play the game' and tar everyone with the same brush.
I know people joke to me about the number of hours(or lack ) I work..and thats because I couldnt handle full time work.Didnt want to NOT work and was really lucky to have a sympathetic boss who's gone out of her way to accomodate me.So much so that this last month when I've had medical issues shes gone out of her way to make time to talk to me!I keep trying to assure her that I really am fine mentally atm.!!
I wouldnt travel away from my comfort zone for years. My daughter made me go to the doctor and he gave me valium. It was that simple(I dont travel much..but for the few occassions I do it was perfect).I couldnt believe how long I'd stopped doing things(and worse stopped my kids) because I was too embarrassed to go and ask for more help.I just felt I was being pathetic
I do get an awful lot of patience and support.Other people dont.Nor are they lucky enough to have a job five minutes away(sorry for thread hijack )

Awwww, Veggie
I hate that "pull yourself together" crap - would they say that to someone who had diabetes, or cancer? Mental health issues are just as real, and need just as much support.

The Tottenham goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini is in hospital with "possibly life-changing" injuries after crashing his BMW motorbike today.

The 36-year-old hit a Ford Fiesta at around 10.30am on Forest Road, Walthamstow, east London and is being treated for fractured wrists and an injured pelvis.

how sad, hopefully he will make a full recovery
