Not for nothing is Mrs Joe called the penalty shoot out Queen.

I have been known to hide in the toilet during penalty shoot outs and taking penalties (Igor Balis at Bradford springs to mind!!)

She was bloody brilliant Darlo, and handled the Serena meltdown very well.

Spot the difference.

How many differences do you want?

As I see it, you have two players celebrating in front of rival fans in the same game.

The charge of improper conduct for Adebayor comes from celebrating in front of opposing fans, thus inciting the crowd.

Van Persie did exactly the same thing, and could have potentially incited the crowd as well, the difference is, the Citeh fans did not act like brainless morons in response. As the picture shows, their reactions range from apathy to slight annoyance. No throwing of plastic stools and what appears to be orange peel though...

I can sympathise with the Arsenal fans, it's not a good feeling when a former players scores against you and then rubs it in with the celebration. I've seen it myself, when Michael Ricketts scored one of his four goals for Boro at the Reebok, and he ran the length of the pitch with his hand cupped to his ear after we'd spent the game abusing him. Again, the difference is nobody reacted like the Arsenal fans did. They are far from blameless, and I hope every one of those idiots you can see in that little gif above is banned from attending games for a long time.

Ever since that scarey day in '66 when I spent a short time hiding behind the settee and my Dad injured his leg celebrating, I have been twice, twice mind you, to Germany. They have had it in daft countries like the USA and Japan, we get fobbed off with the fecking Olympics, and still we have to go cap in hand to beg for it. Mad

Can't comment about the '66 World Cup, I was 3 months old when we won it!!

Would love to see it here again, Euro '96 was great, the Dutch were in Brum at the time, playing their matches at Villa Park and the atmosphere in Brum was party time, Broad Street was full of orange shirts and it was really good fun!!

I hope we get the World Cup again, would prefer that to the Olympics although 2012 should be good.

Disappointed Shake Head

Hug I never expected that result as you know..Listening on the radio after the first min was no fun at all..Cracking match though.

On TV it was more nervewracking Eeker, entertaining match was from end to end. We just had a bit too much for them to cope with once we got in control Wink.

I did think that at first but we've managed to find a way somehow most of the time, but we was in control then. Scholesy never learns Laugh, but part of his game.

Nod

I am not liking the direction this thread has taken Frowner

Giggsy still has the magic and skill Clapping, he's a class act.

About the Adebayor thing it is about class when scoring in front of a former team not to celebrate in front of your former fans, not an excuse but players do get themselves caught up in the situation and their emotions get the better of them, maybe some more self control is needed Smiler.

Ok well firstly we at Arsenal have put up with a lot from Adebayor for the last two seasons. Indifferent form, non existent (to my mind) injuries, blaming the fans in print and on tv (Football Focus) for his crap preformances, then hawking himself around Europe like a dried up old tart trying to get someone to buy him. Then when he had no takers telling us how much he loved Arsenal, then back to getting his agent to pimp him around other clubs.
and that's just for starters. Since he has moved we have had interview after interview pouring scorn and disrespect to AW, AFC and the fans.
Then his behaviour even before the match started when he tried to wind up Arsenal players - commented on by Lee Dixon ( a lifelong City fan btw in case anyone thinks he just had his Arsenal hat on), his disgraceful attempts to injure Arsenal players that he has a grudge with under the guise of 'tackling' and as for that goal celebration.
As Pinky has said it is the fact that he ran the whole length of the pitch to deliberately incite the Gooners there. RVP celebrated at the end he scored his goal - the City end. Adebayor ran from that end - the whole length of the pitch - unacceptable.
As for the behaviour of Gooners there - I'm sure that any of them will be banned if they are caught on camera for wrongdoing. Arsenal has a zero tolerance for fans misbehaving. A bloke on my estate and his two sons were the morons who abused a Muslim woman on the tube a few years back while they were wearing Arsenal shirts.
Nowhere near a match btw but Arsenal have banned all three of them for life from attending any Arsenal home fixtures.

There is real fury about the stamp on RVP - as I said earlier I really worry about what will happen at the Emirates if Hughes plays that moron
FM
City boss Mark Hughes told the club's official website: "Emmanuel sustained a tremendous amount of personal abuse from the kick-off but strongly maintains that there was no malice intended in the challenge on Van Persie and apologised to him when he hugged him on leaving the field of play at the end of the game."

Anyone know if this is true, did he hug Van Persie?
monkey13
If there is worries about what would happen to Adebayor when he returns to the Emirates, that is down to the FA to sort out before then. Why should Hughes have to drop him especially just for that game?, he is man enough to face up to his actions and will get lots of boos anyway he can only make what is at his disposal.
darloboy (Play The Game!)

Mark Clattenburg might have missed Emmanuel Adebayor's 'stamp' on Robin van Persie but it's harder to miss the miracle occurring on the top of the official's head.

The Consett-born ref's old egg-in-the-nest look appears to have been replaced by a new, lustrous growth.

Let's be charitable and say it's grown back naturally. And that Clattenburg's Eastlands error was just the result of a bald... sorry, blind spot.

I don't think he thought this one out Darlo..Wouldn't be surprised if he's injured for that match Smiler

Don't know, but I don't see why he should not be able to play in the game at the Emirates he's going to be public enemy number 1 but he should let them get on with booing him and concentrate on City when that fixture comes around Wink.
